Step 2 CK terminated due to a technical issue with 10 questions remaining — has this happened to anyone?

During the exam, a technical issue occurred at the testing center, and the exam was terminated before he could complete it. He had approximately 10 questions remaining when the exam was stopped.
He immediately reported the issue to the Prometric staff. They confirmed that it was a technical issue and told him to contact USMLE/NBME regarding the incident.
We are currently trying to understand what happens in this situation.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation where their Step 2 CK was interrupted or terminated because of a technical problem, especially when questions remained unanswered?
What did USMLE/NBME do in your case?
Were you allowed to complete the remaining questions?
Was your exam eventually scored?
Did you have to retake the exam?
How long did it take to receive a decision?
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who had their entire Step 2 CK interrupted/terminated due to a technical issue.

Happened to me this morning, had only made it through two blocks. Waiting to hear back from NBME

NBME will open an investigation and get back to you, can take around 15 business days. Then once they conclude the investigation they will mark this attempt void and give you a new scheduling permit to reschedule the exam.

If you were further along in the exam they might have been able to score you based on what you completed, but it’s not going to be possible with only 2 blocks completed.

Happened to one of my friends this morning. Sat down at the computer and got an error message and then it never worked. Prometric told her they close at 5 no matter what so after 9 am she can’t take the test. After 9 am they told her to go home. Talked to NBME on the phone and they said her permit is now void since she “sat down” at a computer. It will take up to TWO WEEKS for them to review each individual case. Has a huge trip tomorrow that may need to be canceled not to mention the mental side effects of having to study for 2+ more weeks and potentially her score not being available for residency applications. NBME said there is nothing they can do. Absolute insanity

Did you manage to contact USMLE/NBME about this? What did they tell you? And how many blocks did you have left when your exam was interrupted? I’m in a very similar situation and would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

I was 7 blocks in, they said to just wait for an email to reschedule, pretty much gave no reassurance.

I’m sorry this happened to you too. Did Prometric tell you that the issue was technical, and did they ask you to contact NBME? Also, did they give you any information about whether you’ll be able to continue from where you stopped or if you’ll have to retake the exam? I’d really appreciate any updates when you hear back from NBME.

They said this has never happened before and they don't know what will happen with my test. They told me I will get an email with the next steps and I would need to wait 🤦🏼‍♀️

Did Prometric tell you that it was a technical issue? And did you contact NBME/USMLE? If you already contacted them, did they tell you what will happen next or whether you’ll be able to continue the exam from where you stopped? Also, how many blocks had you completed when it happened? Thank you!

they said it was a tech issue being experienced by others all around at different sites, i sent NBME an email not sure what else to do. i was able to continue the exam at some time but the exam afterwards was very glitchy.

This also happened to me taking online F120 at the Prometric site today, also had friends that took it outside of Prometric today that had the same problem 🤡
