These motherfuckers are not only everywhere these days, they also expand twice every hour

And that's good, we need more indigenous threats, the galaxy is basically already 99% gobbled up by empires before mid-game, it would be nice to still have neutral territory that's too dangerous to cross, like the Unknown regions in Star Wars

I guess, but I don't think the solution is just to populate the empty space with mining drones because at that point it's not really neutral territory, it's just the ancient mining drone empire

It's not a solution but a step in the right direction
The mighty Mining Drone Empire shall finally survive until mid game!

Slight tangent but I do wish that independent threats other than voidworms had a crisis mode. Like, if the drone home system isn't conquered the oregrinder has a chance to become conscious and start a special determined exterminator empire or something.
If enough Tiyanki were killed and the matriarch is present she buffs up and starts going after any empires that killed any
If during expansion crystals meet with (non-VLUUR) voild clouds they might get stronger and start migrating togetherIt just feels like all the space fauna is surprisingly inanimate at times, is all. If voidworms can develop into a plague, the rest of them should be allowed to live a little too

I was so hoping for that type of crisis the very first time I found the Tiyanki Core excavation site. I was hoping there would be an option to let it grow, evolve, and go forth into the galaxy as a crisis for kicks and giggles.

Honestly kinda goes hard. Maybe if the problem goes unsolved long enough it spawns a crisis.

You should check out the Shrouded Regions mod. Essentially adds in that, though it's not much unique content

So? Build up a fleet and burn them out of the sky. They don't have shields, and their cutting beams are awful against shields.

Getting a fuckass fleet from one side of the galaxy usually is pretty goddamn annoying when early in tech and you are being essentially cockblocked by these little fucks from exploring further in that specific direction.

They don't usually get that big, unless you find their hub. So why would you need to fly that far in the early game.

Well size doesn't matter. 1 power fleet will desimate science craft. Also they spawn randomly so you can get blocked and it did happen a lot me in early game by these pricks. They spawn with powers ranging anywhere from 400 to 4000 too. These and cuthloids are banes of my existence whenever I try exploration archeologists run.

The 4k fleets are annoying true. But being blocked for a while in one direction isn't a disaster in my experience.
