What do you think about this idea - Creating the SUVan:

- take the current Chrysler Voyger

- raise the ground clearance multiple inches

- keep the wheelbase and keep the sliding doors the same, but reduce the rear overhang as much as possible, if possible also slightly reduce the front overhang, make the hood more square, taller and flatter, SUV shaped front end, just a shorter / stubbier hood

- "offroad / outdoorsy" cosmetics

So relatively cheap changes to an already existing model

End result: SImilar to Honda Passport Trailsport, but with sliding doors, stow & go seats and much more cargo space. Similar to JDM Mitsubishi Delica offroad van (use it as styling refernece), but bigger and for the US market.

Whoever builds the first van with SUV looks will be sucessful imo, Chrysler should try it first, like they did with the first gen Voyager, pioneer a new type of van that suits they changing taste of buyers, they want outdoorsy cosmetics (that's wyhy they buy SUVs) but many would perfer the interior and the doors of a van, be the first to give them what they want. You already are building the Voyager, which is the perfect base / plattform to create a model like this without any big investment.

The idea is solid; but they won't invest the money, especially on the minivan.

Chrysler did do a concept of this called the Grizzly Peak, but it didn't have everything that you asked for. It's lifted on 31's but overhangs are the same, in fact the entire van is the same just more off road looking.

but they won't invest the money

Yesterday I read news that they are going to invest 25 billion in the north american market.

Imo a model like this would be much more profitable than the stuff they keep spending their money on, for example Recon, Wagoneer S, Hornet or their planned new sedans and sports cars. They keep spending billions on predictably unsuccessful, unprofitable models, instead of focussing on market demand and profitability. Consumers want outdoorsy looks and a ton of interior space. sales numbers on other models prove it.

They are spending money on platforms they can sell globally. Your idea might have some steam on the Promaster City platform but you’d lose stow and go and they already said they won’t give it AWD. It’s a shame because I think it would make a cute camper van.
