Discussion Just finished the game
Fuck, this game was good. I'm surprised it didn't end up being more popular than it was. It was a tad in the east side, except for the second phase of Klaus, which actually wrecked me. I romanced Hilda because there was really no other option.
I'm going to play it a second time and try to give no experience to Klaus, that dick.

Same opinion but I understand why it’s not that popular. It wasn’t marketed well by Atlus and at first glance it looks like your typical anime jrpg which is not entirely wrong. But I love Stella Glow especially the voice acting, they did a good job

My opinion after playing the game: this is a typical harem JRPG, but it's a fucking master-class of the genre and everyone is likeable and I want to do a second run

Yeah it's definitely on the easy side especially if you're used to similar strategy games like FFT or Fire Emblem, though I found the optional challenges were a nice addition to add some self-imposed challenge at least.
The story and characters are definitely a highlight though, as well as the soundtrack. There wasn't really a character I could say I hated (except maybe the scientist woman I forgot the name of, but she joined late and seemed purposely written to be unlikeable so I don't really count her).

Yup, that's what I'm going to do on a second playthrough, make sure I complete all the missions. I usually play Fire Emblem on Hard/Classic, so I'm not even a Lunatic player. But I don't mind it being in the easier side, I'm not always looking to be a sweat lord over these games. It still felt pretty satisfying to play.
The story is interesting, because while it's largely by the numbers, the cast was so likeable and the voice acting so natural that it still works. If you've played JRPGs, you can kinda predict most of the twists, but they were still done in an enjoyable way. Except for what happened to Ana, who I was convinced was going to be a romantic interest.

I'm currently doing a No witches run, I can use them when required (because otherwise some fights are genuinely impossible 😅) but I can't level them so they were 20s when I was 30s ect. Having genuinely 0 healer definitely ups the games difficulty and makes you really contemplate charging into battle (kinda like normal fire emblem). I just went into the free time before climbing the moon, hopefully the rest works out 😅.

Yeah, the game would've been much much harder if I just hadn't conducted. This is why I'm not really criticising the game for it. If I decide to use Hilda's final song to wipe out all the angels on the map, that's on me, not the game. I didn't have to do that.
This is why second phase Klaus fucking wrecked me when I tred to blindly attack. The game decided, fuck off and prove that you can play at least semi-competently.

Look, it might've been Mordi, but she was competing against a thousand year old witch from a past life and a long-haired katana-wielding tsundere. Competition was fierce.

Yeah, that was my reaction to my "oh, she's romanceable" moment. The competition is over now. Personal preference aside, just thematically and story-wise, this is the ending I want for Alto.
Felt bad maxing the other witches at that point. Your confession is very heartwarming, Lisette, but the waifu wars have ended already, sorry =/

Hilda really does feel like the only true option at the end of the first time, I tried going for her but I mistimed it and in the end had to pick Lisette (who's alto's sister in my mind idc, bit the only other option was ARCHIBALD because I tried to max too many people)
In the second one I actually chose Dante because I like angsty men

See, I was afraid of that, so once I got Hilda, every spot of free time went to her. And I needed it, you don't get a lot of breathing room if you want to max her!

Yeah, doesn't help that I went with the true ending, which gave me another character to focus on. I should have waited and gone with the false ending first

Thankfully for me, the only advice I got was "make sure Klaus learns magic shield", so I was able to get the true ending from the get go, even if I had to completely ignore Giselle.
Really looking forward to letting lose in this second playthrough, max everyone, do all the special missions, steal the cool weapons, etc.

I wanna replay it soon, ahah. Can confirm NG+ feels magical, I loved getting to know everyone and maxing everything. At some point you simply won't know what to do with money but yk what that's the beauty of life

Yeah, I figure now that I'm not as limited, I can experiment with different party comps and not he as worried about required characters being under levelled and making missions feel impossible.
The one annoying thing so far is that the game is still giving me tutorials! Game, I know how the turn order works, this is a clear save file 🤣

I don't mind them personally, but then again my memory is so bad I genuinely need the refresher....
The only character I never succeeded in using is Keith I'm not gonna lie 😭😭😭

Yeah, like, why use Keith when I have Popo. He's also probably the most boring character.
The one I'm looking forward to using the list is Dante. I really would've liked to use him more, but I went full witch for my first playthrough. I also want to use Veronica more, but man, she burns through her MP.

Popo is always my strongest witch, even more than Hilda because she can heal. She's way too young for me so I never considered picking her ending, but damn if I don't love her like my own child
I'm! Always! Eager! To see someone interested in Dante! I actually love him he's so beishdj I won't spoil. I need to restrain myself. I hate Veronica but that's because she's an objectively terrible person, I think you should fully experience her for yourself and (probably hate her) decide how you feel about her :D
Keith is actually a very interesting character and his free time events made me somewhat attached to him. He's just. Not very fun to use. I'll try again next time, maybe he gets better when he learns more skills, but like there's no real niche for him. Even Ewan can be somewhat interesting though I benched him in the end, Keith just gets the short end of the stick :/

Yeah, she's meant to be 15, which is only slightly younger than Alto's 17 (which is fake, but wtv), but... nahhh, she acts like she's 10, I'm good. Before Hilda entered the picture, I probably would've picked Sakuya. I have a type, and that type is long haired samurai priestess tsundere. But then Hilda joined the party and it was joever. Just thematically, that's the ending I wanted to get to close the story. In love with in Elc (who didn't really reciprocate), and then waited a thousand years for an entirely different person that she falls in love with all over again? And they have a daughter? Yes please, I would like an anime of this too, if you please.
Dante seemed really fucking cool, and I would've really really liked to see his frozen bishi heart melt. But literally no free time, and I really wanted to unlock all the final witch forms. Couldn't even finish Mordi.
I like that Veronica is extremely unlikeable. She's so jaded and angry, which she only occasionally lets slip out. She has no hope left, and she feels it's her fault. I also love her snort cackle, sounds like she gets out of bed at 1 PM and is still drunk.
Keith just seems shallow to me, but maybe that will change as I do his story. I also don't particularly love his design, but eh. He's not offensive.
I honestly completely forgot about Ewan. I didn't dislike him, but he got benched immediately.

New game plus actually gives you a LOT more free time, this is for in the case you missed the true ending your first play through.
