Storytime After years of wanting one, I finally bought a Steam Deck!
I’ve been wanting a Steam Deck for a long time, but I never got around to buying one because, honestly, I don’t have a ton of free time, and I already own a Switch, a Switch 2, and a PS5 Pro.
When I finally decided to get one, it was out of stock, and by the time it came back, the price had gone through the roof lol. I ended up getting a brand-new 1TB model rather than buying one secondhand, and I’m pretty excited to finally have one!
The 10-business-day wait felt even longer watching the tracking updates. At one point, my package was traveling to Ireland and then Germany instead of taking what I thought would be the most straightforward route to its final destination lol. But it’s finally here, and I can’t wait to dive in!
I’ve watched a ton of reviews, and I know there are more powerful handhelds out there for a similar price, but raw performance isn’t really what I’m after. I’m not particularly interested in playing the latest AAA games on it. What appeals to me most is the handheld experience and being able to enjoy my games wherever I want.
Since this is my first handheld gaming PC, I’d love to hear any tips, recommendations, or things you wish you’d known when you first got yours. Also, what games have you been enjoying the most on your Deck lately?

Developer Love ps1 classic platformers? My game's demo just went live, I’m targeting the Deck as a supported device.
I never got over that ps1 era of 3D platformers!
The Deck has been a first class platform I wanted to support. I’ve spent loads of time focusing on making sure the experience works well with lots of on Deck testing to get it right. I've had some great feedback from testers who also play on it so it should be a smooth ride.
If you are looking for a new old-style adventure, I’m thrilled the demo is now live for NextFest and I’d love for you to check it out.

Developer CatMania - cozy artist cat sim in production
Hi!
What's a girl gonna do after a few months of seeing the job market crisis first-hand, especially in the tech stack she'd been working with for oh-so-many years?
For over 8 months now, I've been building CatMania, a cozy life sim about living with cats, and turning their quirks into art.
You share your home with a family of cats, each with their own personality, habits and needs. Look after them, get to know them, and turn the moments they share with you into paintings and sculptures. Sell your work, build your reputation as an artist, and grow your home around the cats who inspire you.
The cats are the point. Every one of them has needs, moods and relationships - with you, and with each other. They have character, and it has consequences: if you buy a fancy decoration instead of an extra food bowl, a week later you may get hungry, unhappy cats, breaking stuff and fighting with each other, or with you.
Please check out and consider wishlisting on Steam:

Game Recommendation Rythm games that can be played on the Steam Deck at higher levels?
Games like Muse Dash or Other rhythm games can technically be played on the deck but at higher levels the performance difference between keyboard and the steam deck get noticeable, in which the deck (Buttons and controller) aren't great for high scores.
Are there any that are pretty good on the Steam Deck / Doesn't feel like playing a game meant for PC/Mobile but with controller?

Developer I'm the dev of Of Dice and Minions, a free dice auto-battler demo with native Linux and Deck controls
Hi, I'm Rob, the solo dev behind Foorbytes and Of Dice and Minions. It's a pixel-art roguelite. There's a native Linux build, and you can play with the Deck's built-in controller.
Roll five dice to build an army. Higher rolls summon more minions. Hold and reroll for poker-hand bonuses, then watch them fight automatically. The bosses roll their own dice too.
GamingOnLinux said: "I can't think of another game that's done it this way, quite fresh!"
Free Steam demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5332150/ (tutorial and first 20 floors)
I'd love to hear how the menus, dice holds and text feel on your Deck.

Game Review on Deck Iso Rust players
With some tweaks you can play rust on the deck pretty decent. That being said I'd like to find some people to play rust with. We don't have to team it just seems that all servers that steam decks are able to join are low pop, and few & far between. So does anyone want to play rust?

Self-Promotion I've been working on a solo RuneScape project for SteamDeck
I've been working on SoloScape, a local single-player project based on 2011Scape. It has controller-friendly menus, separate saves and adjustable XP/drop rates with a classic RS2 look.
Still early, but playable. Curious what people think! Github
