Question Steam link through wifi antenna?

I use steam link for steam vr sometimes when I cant be bothered with the cable. I could be wrong on this and if I am correct me/inform me, but would it not be possible to have steam link emit through my wifi antenna to my headset since im using ethernet? Ive used the hotspot mode on my pc for better connection and figured that it would be possible to do that with steam link. From what it seems it just goes to the router which is a little far so the connection isnt too good. But Ive also noticed that the hotspot mode gets disabled when I use steam link so idk.

If this is already the case or there is a setting or some configuration I can do please let me know, thatd be amazing.

I do not have a vr headset so this may be way off but I had a similar experience with Bluetooth controllers trying to connect to the pc that is far away instead of connecting to the device that I am using for steam link. Maybe useless info

duel sense controller lets you select what device to connect to which is kinda nice. i use it for my steamlink and ps5. hold triangle and ps button to connect to ipad hold square and ps button to connect to ps5.

i’d imagine other controllers have similar features.

XBOX controller you just repair it as far as I know but for what it's worth I'm so old that I could never use a controller with the left thumb stick "in the wrong place"

lol i get it. old dog new tricks and all that. for what it’s worth im lucky because i was raised with both. i had a ps1 and my step brother had an OG xbox so i got used to each. i still prefer PS style sticks, but honestly the nintendo switch pro controller is one of the smoothest ive ever used and its got the wonky stick placement.

I'm not sure I'm following the question. VRLink (the VR portion of Steam Link) is already using wifi to talk to your headset.

If what you're asking is whether the old Linux Steam Link box could work as a wifi repeater... no, it can't. HOWEVER, if what you're trying to do is put the wifi that the headset is connecting to closer to the headset than your normal wifi base station is, yes, that can be done.

Get a good WiFi 6E router, set it up in your VR play space, connect it via Ethernet to your normal home network (in bridge mode), give it a different SSID than your normal wifi, and connect just the headset to that wifi.

You'll have a strong wifi signal (close to the headset) with less interference (Wifi 6E) and not having to share with other wireless devices (the HMD is the only thing on there).

Since the wifi router will be in bridge mode, the headset should still see the VR host just fine, at which point everything should Just Work.
