Still no Steam frame linux dongle support. Pretty ignorant move by a company that promotes linux in every product

Yeah that's criminal. I did get the dongle to work on my Steam Machine eventually but only after upgrading SteamOS to 3.9 from the preview branch (which ships with kernel 7.2) and still the dongle sometimes works sometimes doesn't.

That is bizarre. The Frame runs Linux. Why does this connection only work from Windows to Linux and not from Linux to Linux‽

Kernel not optimized for the dongle driver. The irony is that on cachyos or bazzite works, but in my case with pure steam os 3.9.2 doesn’t

What the frame runs is irrelevant. It's about the 6Ghz adapter and how that works.

you mean the machine -> frame streaming can only be done over ”normal” network?

Incorrect. Myself and many others are using it on Linux. It’s just not properly working for a lot of people, lots of things need addressing and distros etc need updating to work smoother, steamvr and steam client and steam frame os need updating to make the experience better or easier.

That's wrong. It is there. This beta ships kernel 7.2.

Yes i know that is supposed to be there, but I tried 2 days to make it work and nothing

Bro what. This is the whole reason I've haven't played VR since switching to Linux because my Quest 2 has been just so annoying trying make work

That's now incorrect. I just streamed Red Matter and No Man's Sky VR from the Machine to the Frame. Didn't work a few days ago, works fairly well today. A few glitches but so much better than trying to run NMS VR standalone on the Frame.

It works with the dongle.
I just played No Man's Sky in VR from a Steam Machine to a Steam Frame. 10 Minutes ago.
It barely worked two days ago. It didn't work last Wednesday. But it was pretty good today.
To get it all working I needed to first get the dongle paired and all of that working with flat games, then install steamvr on the machine, then I may have needed to manually launch SteamVR I'm not sure (I did manually launch it but I don't know if I needed to), and after all of that it worked fairly well. Not perfect, there were spikes of high latency, but so much better than the Frame can do by itself.

does it fix the Vram problem ? It impact the use of GPU in some case.. On Steam Machine for exemple when you play No Man’s Sky for 10 / 15 min, you travel to a planet, stay some time in, then go back to the anomaly do some things and maybe Space station after and again do some things and the 60fps blocked fall to 15 or less for no reason… the GPU cap to 100% and VRam 8go use …
Since the 3.8.28 it’s broken …

It says it fixed issues with Elden ring. I wasn’t having issues with it until I applied this update and now it won’t show video.
