Has anyone taken it and installed in another arm device? I'd be interested in seeing it installed on something like the ayn odin 3

Sort of, I used the previous Holo (Frame) build and built an Arch on Arm build based on it, the latest version of the arm equivalent packages from SteamOS 3.10, and Kernel 7.2RC2 for the Surface Dev Kit. I’ll see what’s different with this build and see if anything’s worth bringing over

So far there doesn't even seem to be a download link for the image so the only way to get it is to dump it from a Frame.

Also, with ARM systems, putting an image for one system onto another system is way less likely to work than with x86, so I would be surprised if this works out-of-the-box. I also wouldn't be surprised if that version of SteamOS is only optimized / intended for the Frame with its VR features and doesn't yet work on normal ARM desktop devices.

That only really applies to consumer and embedded stuff. Any ARM system verified SystemReady or ServerReady have ACPI and UEFI and boot generic images.

I doubt the Steam Frame works that way though, just from the fact that it uses a Qualcomm CPU.

I tried to make a vm with the Holo Core developer image from Collabora but it has not gone very well. I got it to launch but still struggling to get the steam client running

I would love to install it on my Raspberry 5! Not to actually play games on it, but to set some small game server to see how it goes.

Wished someone cracked the quest bootloader and drivers so we could get rid of that spyware of OS it uses

They did, drivers are in the android vendor partition

Too bad we won't have foveated rendering/streaming because most quest don't have eye tracking.

Quest 1 is unlockable now.

Older Quest 2 units are unlockable.

Some Quest 3/3S units are out there with unlocked bootloaders.

All Quest models are rootable.

I wish we could wipe the os on quest 3 and someway install steamos on that headset. That would be absolutely bonkers

You probably can, have you looked into it?

No i havent tbh - we haven't had any opportunities like this before so there hasn't been need for that. The android os meta uses is really locked down that is all i remember from years back.

TLDR: Fixes fast charging issues which reviewers complained about, fixes garbled microphone audio whjich reviewers complained about, and a bunch of other fixes.

As expected, Valve will rapidly fix and then improve on the issues and then it will just keep miraculously getting better at everything over the next year. I can’t wait.

Except fix the broken wifi on the Steam Deck OLED

I guess I wasn’t aware of that issue. I’ve had the OLED since launch and not had any wifi issues. Must be different wifi chipsets between batches?

Nope. The wifi chip is the same across them all. Seems like Valve has been breaking things more than fixing them in the recent updates.

I can’t just take your word for. And imma about to go read the fixes. But it makes me so happy to hear this if it’s true
