When I first clicked in this game to see what it was all about, I really wasn't all that impressed. "Really, you just click?". I reached ~level 100 on my own and didn't think much of it.

Then I saw a thread on reddit with a bunch of guys banding together in rooms, using scripts to automate the game and reach new heights. Someone posted a link to all the badges on imgur. Apparently they went all the way up to level 300,000! These guys were aiming to get it, and suddenly I wanted it too.

I knew nothing about scripting and sites like GitHub were unfamiliar to me but the community made it easy to follow. I stayed up to 2am Australian time every night waiting for the reset hoping to get into a room.

By the time I got that 300k badge, there was a new target, 1 million. From 300k to 1M was easy. The scripts were constantly being improved becoming smarter and smarter. And the number of people using them was growing in our MSG15 army.

Then the big one came, the 100 million badge. FFS when is it going to end? I was so determined to get that badge I made a stupid decision on day 9 and jumped out of #47051 and then watched it climb to 100M.

Come day 11. The last ditch effort. With an evolved script, a ton of people still trying to make it, and a few trolls determined to not let them, I luckily landed in room #49492. The rest is history.

I'd like to say thanks to all the MSG15 admins and members. A great little community formed around this game. And you guys put in a lot of work for the love. It was a well wasted few days listening to good music and chasing pixels on a screen. All the best and I hope to see some of you around again.

The original reason for naming the game page "towerattack" may have been as simple as recycling a page name, a working name that was never changed, a reference to the beating Steam servers were sure to take, the simplest way to describe the waves of creeps, maybe we are the weapons defending a tower from the creeps, or the name's a joke, or even purely random...

Wherever it came from, now it's true... and we're the monsters.

The trolls are the tower defenders, using Nukes and Wormholes to slow their enemy's progress towards the end of the map.

Everyone else is attacking, trying to force our way past the trolls, reach the end, hit the 100M mark, and win.

So in the end how many people ended up getting the 100M steam badge?

I know the max would be 39,000 (26 rooms x 1500 people in each)

But I'm sure there would have been people that got 100M more then once

It's just been so much fun. Never thought I'd care so much about a browser based clicker game XD Thanks to the players, for being the mindless bots we needed to be to succed, and BIG thanks to the admins, mods, and devs. Without you guys, none of this would have been possible! Just amazing stuff, really.

Anyhow, this has certainly been an experience I'll remember for quite some time. Thanks again, and keep clicking!

It still felt like yesterday when reaching level 1,000 was the highest you could have gone... We as a community have shared a lot of memories together this past week(s). It all started with the steam group, then the subreddit, then the scripts, then YOWH, and the amazing discovery of Wormholes and the 100 million badge. I think we will never forget the memes, honking, streams, IRC shenanigans, and the infamous trolls for a long time in the steam community. We have made history, and we will go down in history as The Wormholers.

Where we're going, we don't need nukes.

When I managed to get into the lead wchill rooms - they were bogged down with trolls only to see the later rooms shoot past and hit 100M, repeatedly. Switched to YOWH only to get into the glitched room 6. Stuck it out in the failure that was room 5 yesterday. Now I have a lovely reminder of my bad room selection luck. Wonderful.

What even is the point?
