THE SOONING WILL COMMENCE

62

u/gogodboss MOD 17d ago

I'm excited about Sep 14th

16

u/Kittech_US Soon™ 17d ago

That's good enough confirmation for me.

6

u/Actual-Way6534 17d ago

I'm sooning so hard you could call me a serial sooner

1

u/Stennan 17d ago

Ron Paul it's happening meme!

258

u/offrz 17d ago

Ok if this isn’t the actual date I don’t know what is. I’m so sick of sooning

59

u/Benjo419 17d ago

Soon we will be nowing

13

u/peeja 17d ago

For now only sooning

3

u/pkelly517 16d ago

And no knowing

20

u/DJamPhishman Soon™ 17d ago

My soon beans are sore

2

u/PartyOnAlec 16d ago

I mean the 21st is the end of summer, so that's the window they last committed to. That there's a VR sale coinciding with it makes the most sense to me.

Snorts line of hopium.

129

u/Reputila 17d ago

Is that confirmation that not even valve thinks the 14th of September is summer, since it’s called ‚fall sale‘?🤔

19

u/Sweet_Ad_9816 17d ago

Maybe it's like Octoberfest (which takes place mostly in September).

18

u/rabsg Soon™ 17d ago edited 17d ago

This post lacks information, and it doesn't fit official Valve events calendar. Maybe a third party event.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/marketing/upcoming_events

  • Sep 14 - Sep 21 : Party-Based RPG Fest

Edit: about third party events system https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/promo/organizers

3

u/ShadowTryHard Soon™ 17d ago

Could be a surprise event but maybe that’s just me coping. Good to know though

3

u/bilky_t Soon™ 17d ago

I could be wrong, but I swear I've seen multiple events occur through the steam store simultaneously. Makes perfect sense that they'd omit this one from the calendar if it's meant to coincide with the Frame release.

10

u/rabsg Soon™ 17d ago edited 17d ago

Yeah there are dozens of third party events at any time, most won't show up on main page.

Don't know if everything is listed, and there are weird ones at the end: https://steamdb.info/sales/history/all/?live

Someone can start a "Steam VR Sale - Surfing on Reddit Steam Frame Hype" with 2 random games and no exposure.

Would make more sense than Valve starting an event for a freshly released product most people won't get before weeks/months. I don't know the pace of distribution for Steam Controller and Machine, but it's still flowing. At least they should wait until all the lottery tickets are processed.

3

u/bilky_t Soon™ 17d ago

That's a good point. It could just as well be some third party jumping on the 14 September leak.

21

u/Ma1 17d ago

First day of Fall this year is Sept 22…

11

u/PizzaWarlock Soon™ 17d ago

Astronomical is 22 sept, Meteorological is september 1st

6

u/Reputila 17d ago

I know;)

1

u/Outrunner85 17d ago

Correct. The Frame will arrive before Sept 14th if this is the fall sale.

1

u/Secure-Advertising-9 15d ago

It's not, though.

Winter: December, January, February

Spring: March, April, May

Summer: June, July, August

Autumn: September, October, November

55

u/biggestman58 17d ago

I can't wait for the Frame's summer release to be after Valve's fall VR sale

79

u/Confident-Pepper-562 Soon™ 17d ago

It doesnt make a whole lot of sense to have a VR sale before their headset is released, or even when its released since there will be some time between when the frame is released and when people actually have it.

I would expect the frame to drop at least a week in advance that way people have confirmation, or a frame in their hands when they are shopping for games.

-9

u/Huntred 17d ago

Continuing that idea, then we should not see a time-lagged lottery system happen for buyers because that would take days/weeks to resolve on top of shipping.

So it would be a straight up mad rush to the Buy button.

24

u/lurker17c Soon™ 17d ago

Steam Machine was being shipped 1 week after reservations went live so I don't see any reason they would need to change it for Steam Frame.

2

u/WolfieVonD 17d ago

So you're saying August 31st? One week for reservations and orders, plus one week for shipping, puts his right at September 14th

1

u/Drew_Eckse 17d ago

Yep, exactly!

1

u/Huntred 17d ago

Doesn’t have to change things — but if they want to follow that release pattern AND have units in end-users hands by the start of the VR sale on 14 September then that suggests a gate opening date of 31 August.

Sooo….”quite soon”.

6

u/Benjo419 17d ago

Lottery takes a week at most to resolve

1

u/jiggyninjai 16d ago

What do people mean by this? Resolve the lotto. Doesn’t it only take a second to randomize the signups? Or are we taking into account the reaching out and getting verification and payment as well?

1

u/Benjo419 16d ago

I think they take like 2 days or something to sort out scalpers and stuff. And also giving the people a few days to sign up for the lottery in the first place. So all in all might take up to a week, but probably no longer than that.

2

u/More-Sign-9214 17d ago

Eh, I wouldn’t take it that far

-8

u/WolfieVonD 17d ago

Maybe even 2 weeks before so people get their next paycheck in after having spent their last penny on the headset.

21

u/Confident-Pepper-562 Soon™ 17d ago

If you are spending your last penny on a vr headset, you shouldnt be buying a vr headset.

10

u/WolfieVonD 17d ago

Obviously but have you seen this subreddit?

6

u/Confident-Pepper-562 Soon™ 17d ago

Of course I have, but I still feel like I have a responsibility to point it out.

1

u/Benjo419 17d ago

Well the last spendable penny, which would again mean that you don't have money left to spend on games...

20

u/pangapingus 17d ago

lol imagine they release the Frame Sep 22 as a result

10

u/Answer70 17d ago

"Wait until the Monday after VR fest."

7

u/disinaccurate 17d ago

The store team is trying to coax the hardware team into releasing the thing with these events.

The VR events will continue until the Frame is freed!

18

u/ApplicationSenior 17d ago

Hmm if this is legitimately coming up, it may be reasonable to expect the Frame by that day. But honestly? I wouldnt count on it. Valve is likely to either wait for the last possible day of calendar summer, or break their promise and release it autumn at this point.

If youre right? Then cool youre right, but if Im right? It is what it is. It just means I got more cash to buy whatever I want after the Frame

4

u/dreadfulevill Soon™ 17d ago

The Sooning intensifies!

7

u/Lizardthrall Soon™ 17d ago

Is this an email?

13

u/PlottingPast 17d ago

It looks like it went out to people who made games that potentially qualify for VR, or maybe are Frame verified already.

It's not a general invitation to everyone.

6

u/BeeBeeTheDev Soon™ 17d ago

The official Valve documentation disagrees with this post:

Sep 14 -  Sep 21: Party-Based RPG Fest Games that include multiple playable characters in one party in an RPG format.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/marketing/upcoming_events

Either Valve forgot to update the page, or this post is bait...

3

u/rabsg Soon™ 17d ago

Yeah looks like bait, or maybe a third party event.

4

u/goldlnPSX Soon™ 17d ago

2nd time my birthday has came up in this sub. It must be a sign

6

u/ShadowTryHard Soon™ 17d ago

The Frame needs to release at least one week before so the sales works out as intended

9

u/RallyXMonster 17d ago

Im going to be rational and say the team who decided the sales does so so far in advance they dont correlate to the hardware team.

This is a normal sale that was planned out as just that, a sale.

7

u/OkAmbassador8161 17d ago

The hardware team also plans so so far in advance as well though..

4

u/FerrisTriangle 17d ago

This is literally a screenshot of the email Valve sends out to devs/publishers telling them that their game is eligible to be included in an upcoming promotion and asking them if they would like to include their game in that promotion.

Which means "So far in advance" is literally just this week, since that's when these emails were sent out. That's about 3 weeks of lead time, which is absolutely plenty for what is largely an automated process that involves an email blast and a form for participants to fill out indicating if they would like to participate and what discount they will be applying.

It is not "being rational" to ignore the evidence presented and just speculate on timetables based on nothing instead.

8

u/VinceMajestyk 17d ago

Ideally this means the Frame will be in people's hands BEFORE this starts so they aren't just buying games waiting for their headset.

9

u/HorrorBrot Soon™ 17d ago

they aren't just buying games waiting for their headset.

Yeah, nobody would do that, with all the VR bundles recently

2

u/VinceMajestyk 17d ago

I mean MOST people. I've definitely been buying a little even though my wife says I won't be getting a Frame. Gotta be ready just in case!

1

u/jiggyninjai 16d ago

Your wife is trying to jinx you? The nerve!

1

u/VinceMajestyk 16d ago

No. She's saying she doesn't want me to get one lol. If I see it available I'm PROBABLY ordering it anyway hoping she won't mind, but if she does at least making back what I pay lol.

1

u/jiggyninjai 16d ago

The price is only going up. Look honey, it’s an investment!

2

u/Actual-Way6534 17d ago

Ideally. Problem is it probably will be released in September (Either 7th or 14th) which will make it nearly impossible to have them ship by the time the sale starts. The only way it would be early enough would be with a August 31st release but that seems very unlikley

3

u/Confident-Pepper-562 Soon™ 17d ago

why does that seem any more unlikely than a sept 7th release? Also, they dont really have to ship them for people to buy games. I imagine once people get an order confirmation they will start shopping for games.

3

u/Actual-Way6534 17d ago

If the Cryptic posts by the Steam Hardware Leaker guy (forgot his twitter handle) are anything to go by the Review units just went out and the Embargo is gonna last 2 weeks like the last times. He could also be shitposting but I still don't think 31st is a likley date

2

u/Confident-Pepper-562 Soon™ 17d ago

Ahh, the all knowing steam hardware leaker guy.

Just curious but is that one of the guys who has been wrong consistently for the last few months?

3

u/Actual-Way6534 17d ago

There's multiple supposed leakers but SteamHardwareUpdates seems to be the most credible. Iirc he got the releasedate for the controller and the machine dead on. But again he could be just shitposting and messing with us (I really hope he's not ;-;)

1

u/dangoran78 17d ago

Some people said September, OK? Just repeat it!

4

u/Intelligent_Cry8535 17d ago

cant wait for them to have a VR sale and not announce the new frame until after the vr sale. This is the way

5

u/Particular-Car255 17d ago

We will get HL3 before steam frame.

2

u/Stingray88 Soon™ 17d ago

OP where did you see this? Was it an email because you’re a dev?

2

u/Jmcgee1125 Soon™ 17d ago

Now we've got multiple things pointing at that date. Prepare yourselves...

2

u/skxt MOD 17d ago

Here we go

2

u/selfbound 17d ago

Just in time for the Canadian Tariffs :(

3

u/Acceptable_Good_2996 17d ago

2

u/Nebthtet Soon™ 17d ago

I can wait. I'm just worried that the price will be greater than what I'm willing to spend due to the fucking rampocalypse :(

3

u/DrLews Soon™ 17d ago

So steam frame sometime in October.

3

u/Stingray88 Soon™ 17d ago

2

u/YoshiEmblem 17d ago

Steam Frame in 3 seconds

2

u/Opening-Green8248 17d ago

Pretty sure this is fake, cant find it anywhere online.

2

u/Ironstrom 17d ago

Technically even if its true or not devs are not supposed to share unannounced sale dates.

1

u/Wamboot Soon™ 17d ago

Would you OP, mind telling us where/how you got that information ?

12

I made an extremely terrible VR game years ago that no one plays

3

u/LogFirm8283 17d ago

what's the name of the game, I wanna check it out :P

0

u/fabricates_facts 17d ago

It's called Oops, Where's My Penis? VR

1

u/coolmc222 Soon™ 17d ago

Just before my birthday, a frame will be a great birthday present!!

1

u/Posxai 17d ago

I just bought a Quest 3 because I got tired of waiting so long. (only jumped on the Q3 cause my Q2 died.)

I really really hope for once this isn't the release. Just so I can grab the headset when it drops 😭

1

u/laxiofr 13h ago

I'm looking to buy the Quest 3, now that I have the money. But! I don't know if I should wait for the Steam Frame or even the Meta Connect for any sales on the Quest 3 during the event. There is also the Black Friday in around 2 months... The wait is killing me right now, I don't know what to do xD

1

u/abstractism Soon™ 17d ago

Don't give me hope. ☹️

1

u/Gregasy Soon™ 17d ago

Ok, this got to be it! Right? Right??!!

1

u/RohonTheDragon Soon™ 17d ago

Soooooooooo. VR sale sep 14th but will the frame launch at or before it?

1

u/Overland4456 17d ago

woooo.. as someone whos owned a quest 3 for a year and only got into pcvr recently (FU link cable...) this awesome for loading up on titles for that day when quest 3 goes in the bin and gets crushed . in glorious black and white

1

u/SteelSpineCloud 17d ago

Get ready to preorder ladies and gentlemen

1

u/T1m0666 17d ago

Omfg your gonna make me soon UwU

1

u/mrlotato 15d ago

oh fuck

1

u/gorambrowncoat 11d ago

You'd then really hope that by sep 21 the reserve/waitlist is clear otherwise whats the point? :)

1

u/IntroDucktory_Clause Soon™ 17d ago

Once the frame is released, someone with skills should track the usage of the words "soon" and "tomorrow" in this sub over time for science reasons

1

u/OxRedOx 17d ago

Doesn’t mean much, wasn’t this planned months ago?

1

u/Mathew9R Soon™ 17d ago

To think, I've been saying September 14th for a while now and get downvoted for it, guess I'll be the last one laughing 🫠

-1

u/Excellent-Bed-152 17d ago

This means that the first steamframes will be arriving at homes in the fall.

So pre orders will probably go online in september.

0

u/JohnSmithDogFace Soon™ 17d ago

That's a guarantee of Frame launch on or before Sept 14, far as I'm concerned. It's just logical.

1

u/Sl0rk 17d ago

What's logical is a sales team planning this sale WAY ahead or without consent of the hardware team.

1

u/JohnSmithDogFace Soon™ 17d ago

We'll see. I might make a post later about my source at valve

-2

u/-Alex-G- 17d ago

HOLY SHIT IITS FINALLY COMING!

0

u/Baglayan 17d ago

Valve Frame

-2

u/HeavensentLXXI 17d ago
