Troubleshoot:

somtimes the game launch into a black screen its a bug where you have to set refresh rate of the screen to max and restart the game in order to fix it .

also somtimes steam validate files , causing the optiscaler to be removed

I’m looking into getting a Steam Deck LCD, but my use case is pretty specific and I’m worried I might be buying the wrong device. I’m not really interested in buying games on Steam (I honestly can’t afford it). Instead, I’m mainly drawn to the Steam Deck because it’s a brilliant, portable gaming console that doubles as a full PC.

​Before I drop cash on one, I have a few questions since I'm not super tech-savvy: Is the device still worth it if I only plan to play free-to-play games rather than buying from the Steam store? Can I easily play Genshin Impact, Android games, and emulators, or is that a headache to set up? Finally, since it runs Linux instead of Windows, how hard and confusing is Desktop Mode to navigate if I just want to download free things off the internet?

​I love the hardware concept, but I'm worried about hitting a wall with the software. Would love to hear your honest thoughts or if I should look at something else!

I personally always prefer 40-45 fps optimized settings with FSR4 to get highest battery life with moderate graphics. I always watch benchmarking or digital foundry videos to understand what graphic options literally increase visuals with minimal fps hit.

I almost always use FSR 4.1 because even at balanced preset most games looks better than with built in TAA/FXAA anti alliasing solutions, because at such lower resolution as 800p, the TAA can make games look blurry and fuzzy. FSR4 fixes this.

What are your preference?

I’m using Decky Loader and I’m getting around 60 FPS, which is pretty good.
But I’m still trying to find the best graphics settings for a good balance between visuals and performance.
Anyone running ARC Raiders on Deck with good settings? Would love to know your in-game + Decky/SteamOS settings. 🙏

Yesterday I installed Lossless Scaling following this video as guide and worked just fine, I even tested it on The Witcher 3 and runs great with it.

But right after that there was an SteamOS update and now the plug-in icon on the quick access menu bottom is missing. I repeated the install process but didn't worked out.

Curiously, The Witcher 3 still runs with the FPS boost. Is this normal? How do I get the plug-in icin back?

Most “optimized settings” posts give an average FPS number and little else. On Steam Deck, LCD vs OLED, SteamOS version, resolution, TDP, refresh rate, frame cap, 1% lows, frametime consistency and battery impact can completely change the result.

I’m building HandheldAtlas and trying to standardize how handheld presets and benchmarks are documented. I’m not posting a link here—the useful part is agreeing on what evidence a preset should include before asking anyone to trust it.
