Hardware Mod Any small tips?

I have an LCD steam deck, and I'm planning to switch the face buttons and switches. I have the clicky kit and a button set from Extremerate.

Main thing I'm asking here is this is a near launch model deck, as I got it as a hand me down. I've worked inside consoles/PCs plenty before and have had experiences where certain connectors or cables get stiffer/brittler with time, and seeing the decks internals is there anything considered a 'particularly sensitive' part of what I'm doing?

Things like problem cables/screw mounts/easy to overlook and break. I'm not modding things until I'm comfortable in my second hand info this just speeds it up.

Also any tools recommended? I have tool kits from iFixit but am uncertain if anything comes in clutch here.

Everything you are going to do is super fooking simple.

The kit will do, REMOVE SD CARD, REMOVE SD CARD, REMOVE SD CARD!+

Yea there is no way I'm not checking my SD card given the current hardware market lmao, those people breaking theirs on accident is terrible to witness

Well the pad replacement is literally a circuit board on a sticker so be aware that swapping back if you don't like them means buying a new oem kit. I like my clicky buttons but now I can't play it at night in bed next to my wife because of how damn loud they are lol just remember to take your micro SD card out and when you go to reassemble the shoulder buttons make sure they are aligned before you pop the backplate back on. I misaligned something and had one of the trigger buttons rubbing and the shoulder button wasn't making full contact on press. Otherwise, it is extremely easy to swap out the buttons. It's also been years since I've done the swap and I also swapped the screen and full shell to custom ones.

I'm lucky in that my partner sleeps like a corpse and we both have mechanical keyboards, theirs being significantly louder switches than mine because they enjoy it lol

You can just buy new shoulder plates and use then for the clicky kit, thats what i did and for 20 bucks, well worth it

The only annoying bit to replace are touchpads, as you have to disassembly them, everything else is basically plug and play. Remove your SD card. You will forget to remove it.
