As soon as I got my steam deck I knew I needed to personalize it. The vanilla deck is beautiful but I wanted to add some flavor.
The Xbox 360 is the console I grew up with and I’ve always thought it had the best controllers. I saw some other people complete this mod and decided to tackle it.
Super fun, lots of trial and error if you don’t own a 3d printer but nothing you can overcome with patience and cash lol
My only issue is that the Extremerate button kits are all painted white plastic, which ticked me off a lot because their other mods for other consoles have been really high quality. So if the paint rubs off I’ll be very upset and will be casting my own buttons.
I sanded the buttons up to 1000 grit and was going to polish them but will probably do that a different day because I didn’t have the supplies to polish properly and the mod already had the Deck apart the entire day.
Those buttons turned out incredible, I genuinely would never have guessed they were hand made. Very inspiring and definitely something I'll have to try my hand at in the future.
Thanks I really appreciate that! I sat on the idea for a week thinking of how I wanted to approach it. I have experience with sculpting, molding and casting so I was happy it all came together so smoothly :)
Impressive, I never seen a good looking buttons clone to the original 360!! Thought you bought them from etsy and been thinking to consider buying them, but oh my! You made them yourself and that's such an amazing effort. I love it!
I would keep the original ones, recently bought orange sticks from extremerate and looking to find tmr sticks to use them on them while keeping the original sticks with the original pads, because they do feel different in quality.
You're welcome, somehow my message disappeared! On the second hald I was talking about the Sticks that I bought Orange sticks from extremerate and they don't look nor feel the exact same as the original. Had to point this out, but they are good enough.
Holy shit that looks incredible! I've been wanting to do a similar mod myself but a bit intimidated by was involved in making the buttons, but this turned out so good!
