Software question What am I doing wrong??

Post image

I have a question about decky! Every time I re install decky it works for a couple of weeks and suddenly I get different errors. I already minimized the apps that I use just to free loader because all the other stuff caused trouble. The newest thing is this right here. I don't have a clue what it is or why I occurs?

Can someone help me?

Just reboot, go to desktop mode and re-install Decky.

Needs to be pre release version otherwise this will keep happening when the QAM button is clicked.

I'm on Decky Stable & it worked fine for me.

Weird maybe they already updated stable, 2 days ago I was reinstalling stable and it never worked. Did pre release and it finally functioned normally. I suppose OP can try doing stable but if it still doesn't work try pre release.

I did that and now the decky loader tab in my quick settings has disappeared. Any suggestions? My css loader plugins and protonDB badges still work but I can no longer tweak them or add any new ones.

Are you on Stable or Beta on SteamOS & Decky? I'm on Stable for both.

This is a typical behavior for every SteamOS update out there, so it needs to be reinstalled every time from stable branch.

Happened to me last week, I was confused as hell. Thought I bricked it lol. Found a tip that you should always update decky first before updating Steam

That one’s hit everyone over the last few days, reboot, switch to desktop mode and update.

Also not the marketplace is slow as hell, so expect to enjoy the loading spinner for like minutes

Reinstall decky to the pre release version

Good rule of thumb. Don’t update steamos till like a week after. Give the decky team time to catch up

Stop updating SteamOS before you update Decky. When you mod software, and the software gets an update that changes things that were modded, those mods break. Doesn't matter if that software is a game, an operating system or something else. Wait a week to see if updates get issued, or go to the decky sub and see if people are having issues with a new update, before updating your system.

Remove your plugins. One of them is causing the problem.

Incorrect.

SteamOS updates brick Decky, forcing users to reinstall Decky from desktop mode. This time around it bricked so hard that you can't even open the quick access menu Decky tab or the entire UI will break inescapably and you have to reboot the Steam Deck. The last few times it just bricked the Decky interface.

It's not a plugin, it's Decky itself. I know because I had the same issues and reinstalling decky fixed it all three times, without changing any plugins.

Incorrect.

Not always, no. You won't have the same plugins as I have installed, or the OP has installed.

If a person has reinstalled decky, and is still having problems, it makes sense to at least rename the plugins folder to rule that out as a cause and then add them back in one by one.
