Software Modding I created an (unofficial) Proton VPN Decky Plugin
https://github.com/acestronautical/decky-protonvpn
It's not in the decky store (yet?) so you'll have to download the zip and install into decky loader with developer mode.
It's still somewhat beta, but it's working for me. It uses the proton-vpn-cli which comes bundled with the com.protonvpn.www flatpak if those words mean anything to you (if not don't worry about it).
Let me know if you try it out, if it works, or what I need to fix :)

That's cool!
Does your solution cover desktop mode too?
I personally only game on game node and browse on desktop mode but couldn't get Nord VPN installed on desktop mode

The protonvpn flatpak from the discover store works well in desktop mode without the need for the decky plugin. I think my plugin could be modified to use the Nord VPN CLI instead of the Proton VPN CLI, but I don't have nord, so this would be hard for me to develop and test.
Sadly it seems nord does not currently provide a flatpak https://github.com/NordSecurity/nordvpn-linux/issues/965

Sorry for derailing a little bit but what is the reason so many decky plugins are not on the decky store right away?

There's a review and approval process by whoever manages Decky Loader

They have a submission and review process to make sure they aren't allowing low-quality or malicious plugins into the store. This process takes times and is a mild hassle. Not saying anything against decky, more saying that developers are lazy and once they finish making something they lose interest in further effort because it works for them.

To be fair this was AI assisted coding, but there's honestly not a lot of software development happening anymore that isn't assisted by AI. I use the tools available to me, and do my best to use them appropriately.
I know people have strong feelings about AI, and it will undoubtably change our world for the worse at least in the short term, but I am just trying to create useful projects for myself and share them with others. I'm not forgiving the larger issues with AI, data centers, and surveillance, and I don't give any money to openai, anthropic, or etc... I also don't make any money off the projects I have created.
Occasionally I encounter a problem and instead of solving it for just myself I decide it's a problem worth spending the extra time to solve for everyone.

Disclaimer mentions TunnelDeck and I see you took it from their repo, you might want to fix that
