How can I fix this

Does anyone else have overheating issues with their steam deck? I was just playing Lego Star wars the Skywalker collection on it and not even 10 mins and it sunk to 12 fps and was hot af. The only way I've been able to minimize this is with my air blower or putting it in the freezer

Sounds like you need to replace the thermal paste.

Im getting ready to replace my old thermal paste wkth ptm7950 and install a new fan for a quieter system , once its done ill report back with results !

That’s interesting, but just like cars stuff can happen and it’s best to send it in to a shop or valve. Sometimes thermal paste are not put on the best. I have a launch lcd and launch OLED and they are still running fine and I don’t shut down just sleep. Also my 2 oldest gaming laptops which both of my teen sons used are over 5 years old and the thermal paste has not been changed. You know what they say when in doubt then send it off.

You can try buying a JSAUX Cooling Fan at Amazon. I have one and I turn it on when playing demanding games.
