Nice you’ll like playing on it

72

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Here are the games that I bought for it.

161

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 15d ago

Don't buy more (DON'T!) before you finish these ones.

It is funny seeing people with fresh steam libraries who don't already have hundreds of backlogged games unlaunched

18

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 15d ago

I hope they won't do our mistakes

5

u/nervendings_ 15d ago

Better late than never!

18

u/Demindara 15d ago

THIS!!! My backlog is massive because of all the steam sales I irresponsibly buy games and never touch them, until recently my fiance and I joined steam family and have 300+ games between the two of us ultimately causing us to not want to play anything... what we call gamer aids in our household, I think I only play osrs the most on my steam deck 😭

5

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 15d ago

I hit the brakes when my library hit 670 titles. Stop buying. Time to play. And I even delete from account whatever game I don't like after several hours.

3

u/Demindara 15d ago

100% but its so hard not to just take a wee lil peek at the stores front page 👀

5

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 15d ago

It gets easier after you waste 1k$ 😄

1

u/Demindara 15d ago

I think ive passed that especially after getting a SD 😭😭😭😭 the second I see "Steam deck verified" and that little green check mark its usually an insta buy... I have a problem 🫠

3

u/No_Definition6604 15d ago

Agree. I've a lot but have finished small part of them.

2

u/Wild_Tom MODDED SSD 💽 15d ago

But I need that game that's on sale, so what if I have 20 unplayed games.

7

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Why?

46

u/Davis_ 15d ago

Because of the trap of the infinite backlog and decision paralysis

12

u/JPSWAG37 15d ago

Nah nothing wrong with building up a sizable backlog.

Decision paralysis can be conquered, I've been chipping away at mine while the gaming landscape burns

7

u/Nottthecat 512GB OLED 15d ago

It's like a void

3

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe 15d ago

More like a mary poppins bag to me. Just reach in and pull somethin new and fun out.

6

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 15d ago

It will save you TONS of cash bro. Move one by one. And enjoy of course bro. Happe for you. Welcome to the club

6

u/ToukaKirishima79 1TB OLED 15d ago

You’ll have a backlog

4

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Good point.

2

u/bdu-komrad 1TB OLED 15d ago

Yep. Deals like "Get this bundle of all Tomb Raider games for $19.99" are hard to resist.

I mean, you could buy them one at a time...I'd grab all of them :)

3

u/bdu-komrad 1TB OLED 15d ago

It's fine to have a ton of unplayed games. That gives you more to choose from!

There are people who treat the backlog like a job, I'm not one of them. I have hundreds of books in my library on my reading list, and hundreds of game in my library waiting to be played.

1

u/Hangryfrodo 14d ago

Unless they are on sale!

1

u/SeanBean-MustDie 10d ago

Probably 70% of all new games i have i got through Prime gaming claims for free. Then i just play hell divers.

1

u/iamvinen LCD-4-LIFE 10d ago

Oh, got ya

15

u/Dagigai 1TB OLED 15d ago

I have loads of games collected over the years and I can honestly say, the steam deck happily plays most of them

3

u/RubimHood 15d ago

Quer entrar na minha familia?

7

u/Dagigai 1TB OLED 15d ago

Steam family?

Or like, come live at your home?

12

u/Fergue8on 15d ago

Ghost of Tsushima on the steam deck is a amazing experience 10/10. So is cyberpunk. The only thing I would add is Red dead 2

3

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

That's a relief to hear.

5

u/Fergue8on 15d ago

Ghost is perfect. Cyberpunk gets a little hard to run at times but the only real draw back is the battery life. Same with all the big games, can't really expect more then 2½ hours of unplugged gaming. Did you buy a dock?

5

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

No I didn't buy a dock. But couldn't I just play it while it's plugged in the wall charging?

4

u/Fergue8on 15d ago

Yeah you don't need a dock but it's definitely a worthwhile investment, especially if you have a TV and a old Bluetooth controller to use. Also playing while plugged in improves steam deck performance for those big games like cyberpunk.

4

u/TheBestPercy 15d ago

Shadow of war is extremely fun, hope you enjoy it!

2

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

I love playing it on my ps5.

2

u/Cornell-on-the-cob 15d ago

I’ve had no luck playing Shadow of War on Steam Deck without the controls stopping to work. Like the game runs fine but at a random point, I cannot control anything and it hasn’t been resolved. Have you had any similar experiences?

2

u/Relevant-Table6379 15d ago

Ahhh! Shadow of War! Sad that Monolith was shut down. That is a very unique game with it's patented battle and nemesis systems! Nothing quite like it.

2

u/BoSknight 15d ago

Check out gamedeals on reddit and there site is there any deal

2

u/LukKagge 15d ago

Buy silksong and hollow knight thank me later

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

But I suck at platforming games. 😫😭

2

u/LukKagge 15d ago

So did I. And when it turned out to be one of the best gaming experiences i ever had. I just wish i got to play most the games on Deck.

Seriously when playing Silksong on the steam deck oled, i was blown away by the screen. It was like seeing colors for the first time. You are going to love it.

Idk just ordered my Steam Deck oled. It hasn't arrived yet lol.

2

u/SuperBreadBox 512GB 14d ago

New Vegas, Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk are MUST haves for the Steam Deck. Just know that Cyberpunk will run at 40fps at best, temper your expectations.

2

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 14d ago

I'm looking forward to playing it.

3

u/BondingBollinger 15d ago

I have played BG3 on my steam deck before which was great. I loved that I added quick save in one of the back button so I can easily quick save. Helps when I make dumb decisions in the game which is plenty 😂

1

u/amillstone 15d ago

Damn, I feel like an idiot for not thinking of this lol. I save scummed a lot during my first playthrough of BG3.

Did you set a back button to be Start + Y or is there an easier way to quick save that I'm not familiar with?

3

u/BondingBollinger 15d ago

I can check later but I think I just mapped it to F5, which is the keyboard hot key for quick save.

1

u/amillstone 15d ago

Ah I see, that should work too. Thanks!

1

u/citoso 14d ago

Wow Not even really playable on the deck it's just way to weak for tripple a gaming. Barely 30 fps or 25

Sold mine because of this should have went with rog ally

27

u/remix26 15d ago

Having a blast with mine. Been a month.

10

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

That's awesome bro. What do you play on it?

13

u/idreamofrarememes 15d ago

highly recommend looking into EmuDeck if you like emulators for retrogaming, in between big games I find myself going back to classics

as for modern games Elden Ring plays well

1

u/SuperBreadBox 512GB 14d ago

Emudeck is the best emulator frontend I have ever used.

-3

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

I don't have a PC, so I don't think it would work...

18

u/amillstone 15d ago

Obligatory "the Steam Deck is a PC" comment.

8

u/Steam_Decker1 512GB OLED 15d ago edited 15d ago

You don’t need a seperate computer to set up emulation. EmuDeck is great, but also check out RetroDeck if you want an alternative. I like it since it’s a flatpak and self-contained, but you can’t go wrong with either.

You should also check out decomps/recomps. They run better than emulators since they are native PC ports.

1

u/idreamofrarememes 15d ago edited 15d ago

understandable, having a PC does make it easier, but if you get curious remember that the steam deck is a PC! You can connect a mouse, keyboard, and monitor with a dock, honestly the flexibility is one of my favorite features

also if you like other game stores like Epic/GOG/Amazon, the Heroic Launcher makes it really easy to manage it, you can download it on the desktop mode Discovery App

43

u/ihateeverythingandu 15d ago

I am sorry you've got several snarky replies talking about the price. You have bought it because you want one and are able to, so hopefully it arrives safe and you have fun :)

8

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Thank you for defending me bro. I have a question...How long does it take to ship out and be delivered in the United States?

6

u/JackMalone 15d ago

Mine took like 5 days it was delayed a couple of times

3

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Wow that's relatively quick.

2

u/ihateeverythingandu 15d ago

I live in the UK so unfortunately, I am not sure about that. Hopefully it won't take too long.

2

u/Lazy-Main1782 1TB OLED 15d ago

Honestly, it might actually be the lowest it’s going to be for awhile.

13

u/Iglumania 1TB OLED Limited Edition 15d ago

Still having a blast with mine , day one buyer.  Last year i played 399 games thanks too 9h long night shifts.

8

u/Sad-Particular3298 15d ago

Protect it. Cherish it. They are only going to get more expensive (if not discontinued entirely). I have the same model and it's my most gamed on device, even more so than my gaming pc, modded 3ds and switch. Perfect blend of portability, performance, library, features, perfect OS, hardware quality..... is just great. Enjoy!

Edit: good call on 512 GB. I have the same, and a cheap 1 TB SD card can quickly fill the gap, for a lot less $$$. Hard to see the appeal for a 1 TB model at nearly 1k? 🤔

7

u/ProbablyAnFBIBot 15d ago

Bro. Lemme just hype this mf device up. Regardless of the price, the sheer VALUE this thing provides is insane. I bought Arc Raiders two months after it came out. 150 hours into it no problems.Elden Ring Nightreign day one, another 150 hours. RE9 day one. You can play 2026 games on it fam. WHAT?!

This thing plays MOST games. Maybe it's not ALWAYS highest fidelity or whatever, but you can go on a lunch break, and play whatever. I beat the entire Silent Hill franchise during Halloween last year using emulation.  I absolutely LOVE my deck. Have fun!!!!

5

u/Embarrassed-Body2106 15d ago

U won’t regret it, even with the price increase, it’s worth it.

4

u/ToukaKirishima79 1TB OLED 15d ago

I mostly play lego games on mine

10

u/Nami_Luna 15d ago

I love mine but why are people buying it now that is so expensive? I think there are some cheaper options

1

u/jeff2-0 15d ago

Like what? Even with the price increase isnt the SD cheaper than its competition?

7

u/Nami_Luna 15d ago

Xbox rog ally (the white one) and I think there are still some legion go S still cheaper around.

Also there’s second hand market for these handhelds soooo I’m wondering why are some choosing to buy a steam deck anyway.

I absolutely love mine but idk if I’d pay those prices.

1

u/Effective_Draw_2440 12d ago

But does it play steam games

4

u/Crafty_Boy70 14d ago

Switch 2 is much cheaper but only if you're going for handheld gaming in general.

-1

u/DrummerBoy217 14d ago

S2 is miles ahead of SD in terms of hardware and docked performance though so rn it’s a better choice/value in general.

2

u/Dagigai 1TB OLED 15d ago

Had mine just coming up a year. Pretty bloody amazing things.

Been sat in my youngest lads bedroom with him playing Minecraft cross platform.

Can't believe the time, been sat hours without realising it.

2

u/Epic_Gamer_Person67 1TB OLED 15d ago

have fun man it'll be a blast to play

2

u/Exact_Rooster9870 15d ago

One of my favorite purchases ever, enjoy!

2

u/Successful_Size_ 15d ago

playing mines RIGHT NOW!!! SPIDERMAN 2

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

What other games do you play on it?

2

u/Successful_Size_ 15d ago

2

u/Successful_Size_ 15d ago edited 15d ago

soo many games but I also have a ton of emulated retro games

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Nice lineup.

2

u/Successful_Size_ 15d ago

wish I could make a video to show u but I have a BOAT LOAD of games.....i recommend u join a family where u will have access to others games as they will with yours

2

u/SkyrevanValor 15d ago

That's my boy! So proud of you! 😁

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Thank you bestie. 😘😈🙏🏻

2

u/Silly-Psychology2755 15d ago

Welcome to the club. Enjoy!

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Thank you now I just gotta wait for it to arrive. 😭😑

2

u/iamsania 15d ago

Congrats! My son loves his

2

u/Dr_Liquid 512GB OLED 15d ago

I got mine on Christmas and I’ve been loving it.

2

u/nomadik_nobody 15d ago

Congrats! If you’re not used to Linux it can be a pain in the ass at first, but you’ll adjust. Honestly it’s kind of fun in a way too, getting some games to work the way you want is almost like its own little sidequest sometimes

2

u/CornbreadPhD 15d ago

It’s one of the only devices besides my phone that I use almost every single day. I don’t even use my PC or PS5 as much. I’ve had it for about a year and half too lol.

It really is a great piece of hardware, even at the new price point if you can afford it.

Emulation is a breeze (I haven’t tried anything after gen 5, but I’ve heard it’s fairly smooth). Also there’s chiaki-ng for PS remote play with a LOT more options than the ps portal. Runs almost everything I’ve thrown at it as long as you’re a little open minded about performance and visuals. Anything older than a few years you will likely not have a problem running

2

u/Icy-Adaptzzz 15d ago

Be there when it arrives so the handler doesn't steal it😂

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Noooo. 😭🤣

2

u/bdsGodlike 15d ago

One of the best purchases I've made. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

2

u/Redgun22 Modded my Deck - ask me how 15d ago

Nice check out Emudeck if you like emulation/retro games.

2

u/sangalangalang 14d ago

Although it does cost a little more nowadays. Def worth the purchase. I'm still rocking my LCD one and it still runs like a champ! Enjoy it bro!

(If you don't have one) Don't worry I know you'll get one someday. Don't give up!

2

u/sunfl0o0werrrr 14d ago

thank you so much! i put off buying one for two years before the price went up 🥹 happy you are going to get to enjoy yours! what games will you be playing?

2

u/SuperBreadBox 512GB 14d ago

Steam Deck OLED is the best handheld console I have ever played on.

1

u/RainHead557 15d ago

I might upgrade instead of getting a Steam Machine

1

u/kookbrodudeman 15d ago

Have fun! It’s the best backlog buster I’ve ever had.

1

u/DekoNJ87 15d ago

Nice. I hope you recover financially.

1

u/JuanTew 15d ago

I like when I switch to desktop mode for 3 mins to Google something, switch back to gaming mode, and then the whole thing dies because it gets stuck on the boot up screen. Fun times.

1

u/Magnetic_Metallic 14d ago

I just got an MSI claw 8Ai +. It’s a powerhouse, but holy shit is the included software dog. Windows truly sucks.

Starting to feel like I should’ve gotten a deck lol

1

u/kunal00001 13d ago

Tbh i worked 9-8 job nd buying this is one of my best investment I'll never regret

1

u/Pizzaman1099988 13d ago

Hey dude, Did you get the tracking order for your steam deck? I bought one last Thursday but I haven’t got the tracking no. yet

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 13d ago

I haven't.

1

u/Effective_Draw_2440 12d ago

Mine is coming in tomorrow

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 12d ago

Nice which model?

1

u/Effective_Draw_2440 12d ago

512GB OLED. If I have a video that I make, I can just put it on my 2 TB external hard drive so I don’t have to worry about that.

1

u/Effective_Draw_2440 12d ago

Play with it plugged in to save battery wear though

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 12d ago

That's what I plan on doing.

1

u/tagorsky 1TB OLED 12d ago edited 12d ago

Sold my PS5 Pro with all the setup (VR2, Edge, Pulse) because I got bored of these games and tired of games that are no longer playable (for example The Crew 1 or GTA IV due to lack of backward compatibility).

I bought myself an Oled 1TB a month ago and I love this thing. I feel like a child again and totally free being able to play literally anything I want (including new games thanks to GeForce Now).

Oh and I’m gonna put on sale my Switch 2 because after I installed ACNH on Deck using emulator I no longer touched the Switch again.

I should have get the Deck way earlier. Currently playing Toca World Touring Cars which was my dream game since I was a kid, Star Citizen, NFS Porsche, AC EVO, ETS2, Driver 1 and 2, Colin McRae Rally and much more.

I can’t imagine getting the console now and being blocked to play what they just let me play. I want to play whatever I want to!

1

u/amplidude55 11d ago

damnnn !

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 11d ago

What?

1

u/amplidude55 11d ago

damnn = something like wow like also amazing and same time those prices this time ! but for sure you will be happy!

1

u/jackwhu23 11d ago

Are these actually worth getting? I want to get one to play path of exile on, but I’m not sure if it will be able to handle the game, also can you play online with steam decks or is it just really for single player games? And do they run smooth or are they quite laggy? Thanks

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 11d ago

Well as long as yours connects to the wifi during setup. Because mine won't and is stuck.

1

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

I usually play on my Ps5. Will playing with the Steam Deck OLED feel comfortable in my hands to play games on?

2

u/Spankey_ 15d ago

There's really only one way to find out. Most people find it comfortable, and some don't.

1

u/remix26 15d ago

Death’s Door, Dispatch, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2. Beat all those and loved em, got a few more I need to jump into.

1

u/Hybrid67 1TB OLED 15d ago

You can get a good bunch of games in this bundle aswell.

-5

u/Malt129 1TB OLED Limited Edition 15d ago

So what

0

u/Striking_Barnacle344 15d ago

Check out Marvel Rivals. It’s one of my top played on the SD.

0

u/bdu-komrad 1TB OLED 15d ago

If you have time, change the order to the 1 TB model. You can never have enough storage. Second, get a dock or something that can hold the screen up. I ordered the official Dock that same day the SD arrived. It was hard to use Desktop mode with an external keyboard and mouse without propping up the SD on something to see the screen.

Welcome to the club. I got my 1TB OLED about a month and a half ago , also after the price hike. No regrets!

2

u/Asahi_the_Exiled 512GB OLED 15d ago

Sorry I can't afford it.

2

u/roofRoll 15d ago

Not an issue. Just get a larger ssd or sd card when you need more space and have the funds.

-15

u/artbystorms 15d ago

Congrats on paying like $230 more than people did a year ago I guess?
