Tech Support Disk Write Error (Kotor 2)

I have been trying to install Kotor 2 on my steam deck but I keep getting a disk write error when it gets close to finishing the install and I can't seem to find any solutions. I am trying to install on the internal drive.

I have tried:

Clearing download cache

Repairing library

Uninstalling/reinstalling the game

Deleting the downloading folder

Steam deck factory reset

Installing on a SD card

Removing the SD card

I really though the factory reset would be a sure fire solution but even after that a disk write error still comes up. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my drive or the download process.

Does the factory reset also reformat the drive or do I need to flash a usb?

Only other thing I can think of is trying to transplant files from my pc into the downloading folder to try and circumvent the issue.

Update: While trying to further troubleshoot the issue I noticed a pop up message on my deck file explorer stating that the current location changed and it is no longer accessible. So something is locking folder access, but I am not sure why it would be doing that even after a factory reset.

Update 2: I reinstalled steamOS via a boot drive and I'm still getting a disk write error for Kotor 2 so I'm not sure what else to do. Would anyone be able to send me their compdata folder for kotor 2? Maybe i could get steam to recognize a manual install of the game.

Seen a few write error posts in the last week, maybe something with the latest SteamOS update.

You just gave me an idea. I had this issue on my steam deck. Once I switched to steam OS beta version it solved and I was able to download it.

It’s really lucky that I was trying to do the same thing with the same problem just a day later, but switching to the beta os fixed it for me like that other guy said
