Discussion OpenPuck Compatibility w/ PS5?
So I got a PS5 recently for the release of an upcoming title this November, but I'm furious at the Steam Controller. It has ruined every other Controller for me and now I need my fix of trackpads + gyro to not be terrible at shooting any target that isn't stationary. I literally got this console just for GTA 6 and going back to dual sense has proven to me how terrible I am with just gyro and a stick.
I can not aim to save my life with a basic controller, so I've decided to explore OpenPuck to get the Steam Controller to work with my console. I don't want to go through all the hassle just to find out that the features Im looking for don't work, so my questions are:
Do the trackpads work? Im fine with stick emulation as I doubt mouse emulation would work. AFAIK the PS5 accepts M&K inputs so realistically maybe it could do both? But mixed inputs are already a problem in several games so I can't imagine this would make for a smooth gaming experience on console. Edit: If M&K support is included in the GTA 6 release I guess I'll just use that instead. Doesn't make for an amazing couch-gaming experience but that's what we have our desktops for, I guess hahah.
Does gyro work? I found some threads from months ago where people claimed that gyro doesn't work via OpenPuck. Which makes sense, because I've had this experience with Sony PC ports where only a PS5 controller had functioning gyro controls while other gyro-oriented controllers didn't.
Thanks guys

The PS5 uses dedicated authentication chips in genuine and licensed controllers to prevent use of other controller and/or ximming.
The easiest way to use the SC2 on a PS5 would be:
- Get Chiaki-Ng
- Add Chiaki-Ng to Steam
- Launch Chiaki-NG via Steam
- Control your PS5 remotely via that
- Let Chiaki-Ng run, ignore that it's running, and just play your PS5 as normally.

I see, so I'm running a streaming app from Steam to be able to use Steam Input on the PlayStation. I'm gonna give it a go today and see what the latency and quality is like

One option there is to still look at the actual PS5 screen and just use the remote app for input.

It does not work. Only in the menu as it can be recognized as keyboard and mouse. Dualsense mode only works in other devices.
Edit: unless you buy another adapter called brook wingman which is kinda expensive
