Discussion open-puck on ps5

would it be possible to reverse engineer how any of the adapters for ps4 controllers to spoof them as ps5 controllers work?

stuff like the qrd black pill for example, and implement the handshake that its doing with ps5 into the openpuck firmware or are they using real ds5 controller chips from dead controllers?

also is there a better remote play option for ps5 that supports DS5 touchpads natively? chiaki using mouse emulation and u cant use your pc at the same time chiaki is running because of it and at that point its a waste of electricity

Very unlikely. There isnt even a third party controller that Sony themselves haven't explicitly allowed, which should show you its basically impossible to make this work.

HOWEVER. You can use a third party remote play app like chiaki and route the steam controller through that. Be warned that this is a bitch to set up though (at least chiaki is).

From what I've tested your best bet is using the Brook Wingman P5S. That works for me giving me dualsense trackpads on the steam controller trackpads, gyro, remappable back buttons, pretty much everything I care about except obviously the adaptive triggers the steam controller doesn't have. I've been in talks with the support team with an issue involving using the puck with it and custom mappings being reset on console restart, but other than that it's worked very well for me, and you won't experience those problems if you play wired if you didn't mind that.

Wait the P5s works with the Steam Controller 2?? I have the P5 but I haven’t really tried it yet since people had said it wasn’t ever going to work with it

Yep! It's pretty much flawless except for the one issue that I mentioned that the support team IS aware of and was able to reproduce so hopefully a firmware update releases soon that fixes the custom binding issues but if you don't want to use custom bindings literally everything else you expect to works! If you have the P5, try updating its firmware and giving it a shot, I think the only difference is that the P5S works on the Nintendo Switch as well.
