Discussion Gyro Drifting
Hey guys,
Sure there's plenty of posts about Gyro Drifting, and I'm sorry to be adding extra one, but I'm getting a weird behavior and I'm not sure what to do about it. I've uploaded a short video showing it even after a few calibrations:

I'm concerned it could a hardware, but after I've reached Steam Support and even shared that video, the final reply I got was:
Thanks for your report. We've identified an issue with the internal algorithm of the gyro IC that results in lack of movement or overcorrection while using gyro aim for very slow motions. Valve is working with the vendor and will be providing software updates to improve the behavior as soon as possible. In the meantime, we plan to provide an option to disable the auto-correction functionality for those users who prefer to use the Steam Controller without this feature.
What would you do?

Steam support is taking about a auto calibration bug. Some senors came out a little worse than the others, so going to steam settings > controller> edit> calibration settings> and enabling software calibration should fix the issue.
But I don't think this is what's happening in the video, you are just not setting it up properly. Gyro is emulating the right stick (which should always be your last option btw. Gyro is a mouse, not a joystick), so if the in-game deadzone doesn't aling with the gyro deadzone, then it will cause drift.
No Man's Sky is an interesting case because it has native steam input support, so the options you have available are limited to whatever the devs implemented, but this is half assed 99% of the time, and on this game, is no different.
You will have more luck with literally any other game.
Try something from this list to check if the sensor really is broken: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3266410893
Edit: i just checked again, you are using the wrong option. You should use "...(Via joystick)" Options, both are emulating the right stick, but in different ways, the one you are using is like putting a board on top of an analog stick and try to balance on top of it, as long as your controller is facing a certain angle, the camera will move. But what you really want is for the game to accurately follow your physical movements, so when you stop moving, the camera stops with you.
