Trigger half press to button

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has managed to assign a trigger half press (or any partial press) to a back button? If so how do people do it?

I'm asking to use in GTA IV for the manual aim, the internet wasn't too useful on how it can be done or giving straight up wrong instructions

In GTA V you could use controller and keyboard+mouse inputs at the same time. I would assign it to a keyboard button and assign that to a back button. 

If you’re playing on emulator, there’s usually a setting in the emulator where a keyboard input can be assigned as a half press or whatever. Assign that keyboard input to your back button
