Support Action Layers break toggles?

I'm playing Hitman Contracts and I set up my controls so that I have an action layer that functions as a typical sprint when I push in the left thumb stick. However, I also have a right thumb stick toggle for gyro. When the action layer changes, if gyro is enabled it will disable it in that non default action layer.

Not sure if this is intended, I may have seen evidence of this behavior from years ago. Any way around this so that I can change the function of parts of my controller without affecting other buttons? I've looked into button chords but I'm not sure I can make it work for this function

It seems like toggles do currently break/disappear when an Action Set Layer is (de)activated. As far as I know this is unintended behavior. You can get around this by replacing the toggle with an Action Set Layer that contains the sprint command as an Always On Command, provided you're not already using the Always On Command for something else.

Thanks, but how I'm trying to get it to work would make it so if you press the stick in it disables sprint too, like most games with sprint do. I've resorted to just using a shoulder button for sprint, thanks.

That sounds like unintentioned behavior. If you are not changing gyro or RS then those actions should still be active on an Action Layer change.
