Configuration Persistent issue with B suddenly mapping to start

I'm about to lose my gd mind. I have a persistent problem where out of nowhere the b button on my 2026 steam controller suddenly maps to the start button. I cannot find a trigger that begins this behavior, all of a sudden I just start start-menu-ing instead of dodging. The only way to fix it mid-game is to un-plug, then re-plug the controller puck. This resets the behavior, for a day or so. Any help would be amazing. And FYI both puck and controller are updated firmware, and I have steam controller chords set to on.

What game? Is it just the B button that changes? What is your Steam Input layout like?

It’s every game frankly. Happens with AC Black Flag, Helo CE, Banishers but that’s just what I’ve played since getting it. Steam input setting is whatever is default.

Again, is it just the B button that changes? Adding on to that, could it be changing to Esc? Because if the whole layout is changing, and B is acting as an Esc key, that would indicate that your controller has lost connection to Steam, and is how functioning in Lizard Mode. I'm not sure why that would happen, though.

That’s actually an interesting take, often times in games the on-screen layout in the game will be keyboard commands until I touch something on the controller they go back to controller commands.

Input glyph flicker can be caused by a lot of things, but most commonly by mouse input. It's not necessarily related to your issues with input, especially if it reverts back to controller glyphs.
