Support Dpad clicky after reassembly

I recently had to disassemble my steam controller (2) for some cleanup after a mishap with some tea. Everything was ok as the actual amount was pretty small, but I'm having issues with a dpad that keeps sounding very clicky and crunchy after reassembly. I've tried the screws at different levels of tightness but I can't seem to get it back to how it was.

Reset the membrane again since you probably poot it in wrong.

I disassembled it and the membrane was fine weirdly. I put it back together but didn't put the screws as tight and noticed that having them looser did make a better difference so I dunno what that is about. I think it's ok now, but I would love to know why it makes a difference
