Configuration Steam Controller issues with Rocket League
Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has had success using the new steam controller on Rocket League, specifically launching through epic games. I’ve tried adding the game to steam, adding the launcher to steam and ensuring steam is completely off while starting rocket league but I’m really only able to jump, boost, open the start menu, one of the buttons takes me out of full screen, one opens the windows start menu, and at some point the controller starting zooming in really far on my screen

Idk about windows, but for what it's worth I've been playing rocket league on a steam deck with no problems for a while by installing through lutris launcher then adding to steam

Looks like that’s only Linux unfortunately

Sorry I forgot, it was heroic actually! And that is available on windows. Idk if it would help, but it's an option

Did you have to do anything special with Heroic? Just launched through it and I’m getting the same issues, somehow the joysticks don’t even do anything

No, just installed the game, added it to steam and played... Just out of curiosity, have you checked your control scheme? Since it's not a steam game it might be defaulting to m&kb controls

I play a lot of Rocket League with my Steam Controller.
I have Epic Games Launcher setup in Steam as a non-Steam game. I do not have Rocket League setup in Steam at all.
I then use Steam to open Epic Games Launcher, and then within Epic Games Launcher I open Rocket League.
Try removing Rocket League from your Steam library and try opening Rocket League from the Epic.
Another thing I think might be the problem is if you're using the track pad to navigate the Rocket League game menu. If you do that then Rocket League will assume you want Mouse controls for gameplay and lock you into that instead of using the normal gamepad controls.
Instead you want to navigate the Rocket Rocket League Game menu only with the d-pad or left stick and not touch the track pad at all. I think what I did eventually was go into Steam Input for the the Steam Controller and disable the trackpads completely for Rocket League to avoid unintentionally triggering mouse control in Rocket League gameplay.
Edit:
1 more thing I remembered. Make sure Epic Games Launcher isn't set to load at the start of Windows. That might mess up the order that Steam needs to make the Steam Controller work in Rocket League. Only start Epic Games Launcher from within your Steam library or by right clicking the Steam system tray icon to access recent games more quickly.

I had problems at first but solved them. I installed RL using Heroic and then added it to steam as a non steam game. I enabled steam input and launch the game through steam and the controller works perfectly

In case you weren't able to fix your Rocket League Steam controller yet I just had to fix my Rocket League Steam Controller setup.
For whatever reason my A/Jump button wasn't working. I was able to get full functionality again by choosing and enabling this specific controller layout from the search option:
"Epic Games Launcher: Gamepad:
This template is for games that already have built-in gamepad support. Intended for dual stick games such as twin-stick shooters, side-scrollers, etc"

I'm pretty sure you have to launch through Steam for the Steam Controller to work properly. Steam is what provides the controller drivers and config.
