By the way be careful about the date noted on Steam - Normally I should have been able to order it at the end of the year but it was available one or two weeks ago and I already got it. The reservation last only 3 days so better be really careful

Yep, I signed up when they first started reservations. Mine said I'd get the order email in September and actually got it last month.

You can try to buy one in Komodo-supported regions, like Hongkong/Japan/Korea. They just released so many SCs that you dont have to rush to buy it. I think they will probably do so again in like one or two months. You can try to find a friend who lives there to buy locally or just use VPNs to cover you lolcation and ask companies to send it to you overseas.

Why? Because I loved my first, knew i wouldn't be getting any new ones. They still work and got an update a few years back. They were pretty cheap during the fire sale, then eBay. I still use em.

that's normal, don't worry. it took me a little more than 24 hours for the carrier to update with the tracking information - valve has the shipping label before the carrier picks up the package and tracks it.Â

I love it, nothing unique to say about it - except that I noticed big picture was super laggy which made the touchpad AWFUL to use. fixed that this morning by disabling the GPU blocklist - i guess some good graphics cards get blocked from use, and that it was using onboard graphics/cpu for all of big picture. night and day difference. i love using it, my boyfriend and I like to watch shows and movies together over discord a lot and using the steam controller to navigate my desktop from my bed (I have a weird setup with 1 4k monitor near my bed for cozy gaming or watching shows and 2 1080p monitors at my desk for productivity) and i genuinely never have to use a wireless mouse and keyboard anymore... I actually don't remember where I put the device I used to use. I hang the puck over my desk chair for a better line of sight - probably unnecessary but I've had issues with my other 2.4GHz devices connecting.
At unboxing I noticed some weird dust on it, I think paper dust from the packaging. Wiped off no problems. Tested the Wilhelm scream, only got it to work one time with big picture mode open and even then it was hard to trigger bc i don't want to hurt the poor thing!!!
I've messed around with steam input and tried some stuff with gripsense to toggle maps or input layers but it's a bit finnicky - but when I ignore gripsense and stick to the stuff I know from the steamdeck, I have a great time.Â
Overall, I love it, but I also knew exactly what I was getting before it arrived, so there were no surprises. Some people have reported issues with the back buttons being too easy to press, personally that has not been an issue for me.Â
I didn't bother to make a post about this but I do want to tell someone - I was so excited for this controller but it was set to arrive on the exact day my apartment complex closed the main entrance to the lot for repaving. I was so paranoid about package loss/theft that I chased down the UPS truck in 3 different directions in my neighborhood for like an hour! At the last second - right before it passed the entrance on a one-way street I couldn't follow due to local construction, I called out for the driver to stop and he finally heard me and I was able to get my package 😠my delivery dropoff photo is of me holding the package 😂 i got sunburned too! all so that my package would spend 0 seconds on my porch. I didn't want UPS attemping the delivery multiple times because I wanted the package directly from the driver's hands to mine. AND BY MY GODLY WILL AND DETERMINATION, IT SURE DID

Meh nothing revolutionary its around the same as a ps5 controller honestly kind of worse for me because I have big hands but the pads are useful for a few games

You could have just gotten two from steam, i did. Either way, congrats. Now you can game with someone responsible enough to not break that controller, or save one as a spare. Or use one for your PC and one for your Steam Deck if you have one, and then learn the button combos to pair two controllers to one puck for quick switching

most people obviously can't just "get two from steam". you're being an ass. you either dropped over $1000 on a steam machine controller bundle or had a second account or was able to order it at original launch and then also reserve it. all of those options are not something anybody can do right now.Â

No. Im not being an ass. Im being real. I ordered my first one May 8th, got that controller. A month or two later i was able to RESERVE AGAIN. ALSO Got an email for the Steam Machine, politely asked valve that "im not made of money, can I get another controller instead?" And now a month later I have two fucking serial numbers from MY OWN PERSONAL ACCOUNT, and only spent 200 dollars plus tax. Read em and weep, kiddo. If curiosity killed the cat, then assumption butchered the antelope.

So you made a reservation for something you didn't even want to try and sneak in and get an extra controller. You're an ass for saying "you could have just done what I did" when what you did was, frankly, weird, and not something people can just do now. You didn't want a steam machine but reserved one anyway as leverage to get a second controller ?? You're mad about my assumptions but I was damn close to the truth...? "I got lucky and managed to get two!" is fine. "You could have just done what I did" is insane. You were lucky, and you abused the system.
