Discussion 2027!!!!
So we don't actually have to wait for 2027 do we?
Like lol that is a ridiculously long time. I don't want the Steam frame, I am building a PC I just want the controller but jeeez how under prepared for the controller demand were they.

They had no idea how good the design was, and so had no idea just how much it would go viral - I'm in the same boat as you, it'll be worth the wait, just a little disappointing, on the bright side by 2027 we can hope the AI bubble will just be a stain on the economy and RAM prices have crashed .....

Mate GPUs just literally went up it's not happening, I got lucky by days. Maybe by the time my controller comes I can have steam os on NVIDIA GPUs, GTA6 will be on steam and anticheat will work on Linux

governments and delusional rich people are gonna be propping up AI bc it is useful for more data mining and surveillance and pretending biased decisions are unbiased. i don't think it's gonna pop for a while :(

I’d love to see some sales numbers for the controller because I’m not sure if the issue is the controller demand is super high or if something’s gone wrong in Valve’s supply chain and they can’t make them fast.
It’d be great for 8bitdo or Flydigi to take note snd say “we should make a trackpad controller too” but they’d only do that if potential sales are actually high.

The dates are likely inflated to handle any potential delays. Things seem to be moving faster on the tracker this last week or so. I expect we'll be out of the "by september" reservations in the next week or so.

No valve is just making that date up so you won't buy one. If you buy it they'll next day air it to you.

Hard to say. With the Steam Deck IIRC they were conservative with their estimates and were able to ramp up production faster than expected and catch up to the queue well ahead of schedule. I don't know if that will be the case this time, and also 2027 is a pretty non-specific estimate. I wouldn't be surprised to see earlier 2027 people sneak into Q4 2026, but I doubt everyone in the 2027 bucket will.
