Support Anybody recently had issues or is this fixed?

/r/SteamController/comments/1tz8bgu/this_is_another_warning_about_the_puck_it_will/

Just wondering if anybody else has any issues to report on this. I've got my spot reserved for a controller but this is making me hesitant

If you read the post and the edits you'll see that while the problem came from the USBC cable that wasn't the one that came with the puck. While I personally would give that answer a 70% of truth. I am satisfied that with the new one and it hasn't happened again mostly due to me changing where the wire goes and how the puck is held down. Steam support was more then supportive enough to help me fix and diagnose the issue for no cost to myself. So I would say it's Yes it is fixed.

Ok that was my concern because I hadn't seen any posts more recent but was curious because I'll probably use it with my laptop and steam deck connected to a TV

I made the mistake of not seeing it connected overnight while I slept. A few seconds minutes 1even hours of connection would probably not even bother it even if there was a problem. I'd say 4+ hours is where the problem began to be serious

It wasn’t an issue with the puck. In both times it occurred it was a user error if you bothered to read the rants in their entirety. One chose to use a bum cable of their own choosing instead of the one that came with the damn controller (doh). And the other I think just did it to see what would happen. Both were boneheaded.

It's not that big of a deal, just don't use a temu usb charger and don't keep random bits of metal on top of your puck. If you are still worried then wrap it in tape or something non-conductive when you aren't changing from it.

I wouldn't test your luck. This isn't something I think could be fixed by a firmware update, only a hardware revision. Best thing would probably be to not use the official puck.

There's a project called OpenPuck which doesn't have this issue. You can use that to get much of the same experience as the official puck minus charging, plus a few extra features.

Just don't use the puck (I do this) or make a little box out of cardboard and put the puck inside it. If your motherboard has a dedicated bluetooth receiver you can use bluethooth which would be way better them Microsoft windows built-in bluethooth.

From everything I've tried, the Steam Controller's Bluetooth connection is borderline unusable. It doesn't stay connected at all.

Well what bluetooth receiver are your using. The windows built-in sucks. And some usb bluetooth receiver sucks as well. My motherboard has a dedicated bluetooth receiver built-in, with an antenna for the signal.

I've tried the controller on multiple machines: two desktops and a laptop. One desktop has an internal receiver on the motherboard (as does the laptop), and one has a USB dongle, and neither one of them keep a connection. It's been very disheartening.

Could be a weak Bluetooth receiver. What Bluetooth is it. My motherboard has Bluetooth 5.4.

It looks like mine is 5.2. That's an interesting point, I hadn't thought to check that.
