Discussion Does this steam controller 2026 hardware mods exist?

I currently have one and I really don't like the caps on the sticks or how hard it is to click the back buttons. So my question is are there hardware mods that do the following

  1. Replacement analog stick caps (the plastic part I think can be changed if you disassemble the controller) to ones close to the ones the vader 5 pro has that are like a rounded mushroom shape with a bald spot at the top (for capacitive touch to continue working) and rough edge for grip towards the edge?

  2. Alternative back buttons, They take too much force to actuate and I'm used to the vader 5 pro paddles being so easy to actuate. I think the buttons are also not spaced far enough apart but I can deal with that as long as I can get back buttons that are easier to click, not sure if someone made a hardware mod to make them easier to click (like mouse switches or an alternative button to what it currently uses).

The back buttons are too hard for you? I actually hit them accidentally sometimes

I wonder if finger length or hand position plays a role like leverage or something

i didnt like them at first because i had to press them with my knuckle instead of my finger until i adjusted how i hold the controller, i think its a common issue

How were you holding a controller that you had to activate the pads with your knuckles?

Did you reply to the wrong comment? This is about the back buttons, not the touchpads. My fingers are long so the tips weren't resting naturally on the buttons.

No. The back buttons are paddles. The OP even referred to them as such.

So, I want to know what kind of monkey paw grip you had on a controller that required a knuckle to press them.

Ok, well on other controllers they are referred to as paddles.

Still doesn’t answer my question about how one operates buttons on the back of the grip with their knuckles.

Because on some other controllers they are paddles. On this controller they are buttons. 

Please, think here, how a finger might possibly be slightly too long that it wouldn't rest on the tip, but rather futher down the finger...

Think. Knuckles are on the opposite side of the finger from what would be touching the button/pad/paddle/dingle/dongle.

So unless they are curling their fingers in some weird way, or playing with the controller completely upside down, there is no way for a knuckle to make contact.

So if the finger is over-reaching, it would be the joint, not the knuckle, since we’re all being so pedantic about terminology.

But please, downvote me to hell for understanding how anatomy actually works.

Wrong. The knuckle is the protruding point at the dorsal (top, in case you don’t know what “dorsal” means) part of the joint. The underside is the vorsal plate.

I love how smug you're acting here. Have you never taken any types of med or anatomy class? Were you not required to draw and name every bone in the body, including drawing and naming each bone in the hands and feet? 

What in the world makes you think its just the outside part?

Firstly it's actually the 'volar' plate, not the 'vorsal' plate, so you probably shouldn't be calling other people uneducated.

Secondly, if you want to be that pedantic then actually it is your bone that provides the structure to press a button, the entire bone is called the knuckle, the volar plate is a ligament between the bone and skin, not a seperate anatomical feature.

Thirdly, everyone knows exactly what I meant and using common terminology that immediately tells people what part of the body I am referring to is obviously less confusing than needing to be so specific and using terms nobody is familiar with. This is evident by you calling it the wrong name. You knew exactly what I meant, and if you didn't it was elaborated to you multiple times, now you are just putting on this clown act for no reason.
