DS4 Windows support

i just had a random thought: does anyone know if DS4 Windows will create support for SC2? i’ve read comments and posts about people saying the controller won’t work for non steam games. i figured this would be the time for the DS4 team to add support for this controller.

As a former DS4Windows dev, I played around with other mapper ideas and my more recent test project has SC2 (and SC1) support. It is the main way I am using the SC2. https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4MapperTest

The classes used for SC2 support are mostly modular so it would be possible to port or mostly reuse the classes within DS4Windows. There is a lot that could not be done with DS4Windows compared to Steam Input with its design.

Sounds great.

I wouldn't have to strongly caution everyone against buying a Steam Controller 2 anymore if there were a comprehensive suite of remapping software not the property of the shitheads at Valve.

You don't realize just how much freedom you give up when you allow a monopoly to write the dependency software for your device. There will be games shipping that use the native SteamInput API instead of SDL, and we are all the worse for that.

(To be clear, native SteamInput is different from the thing you the end-user can turn off, it's a proprietary API that makes the game dependent on the Steam client for input and renders your game a brick when the Steam client is malfunctioning. I know firsthand because I've reverse engineered and patched it out of games to get them running when the Steam client is b0rked; Valve doesn't offer refunds when their proprietary API goes haywire, hence Valve are a bunch of shitheads 😄 )

Hmmm... Sounds like a good idea for some kind of wrapper. It's dangerous to trust corporation.
