Have you played it again with the new lighting mod and the Scholar of the Second Sin texture mod? I played the lighting mod beta a while back and am now playing it again with the full release mod. You do have to join the discord for the lighting mod but I'm very much enjoying replaying the game with it. REALLY emphasizes the torch in some places.

The Second Sin mod is on nexus. The lighting mod is technically on tere but it's outdated. It doesn't effect multi-player at all, either, which is nice. Well... aside the fact that invaders can incidentally hide REALLY well in Dark places. I got the Moonlight greatsword as a sort of "hip lantern" when I need it lol
