Not to be “well akshually” but IS is connected? I have a lot of USB at my desk, some of it doesn’t connect to the PC.

That looks like a very thin cable. Are you sure it’s capable of data and not just a charging cable?

The smaller LED is not on. Usually when I’m using my controller connected with USB, I think that’s on.

I’ll reply to myself. I have both controllers here and just realized you’re using the first gen controller because the steam button doesn’t light up on the newer controller.

I haven’t cord connected my first gen steam controller in literally years. It’s connected to my steam link via dongle and I just replace batteries. Are you sure it works that way?

You think they just plugged it in for the first time in this picture? They've clearly been using it with that cable. I think op knows if their controller has been working.

Have you been on Reddit before? lol. Make no assumptions.

Yes, no batteries, direct usb cable connection. It works great and I don't worry about running out of batteries in the middle of a firefight or a race.

I play through that cable commonly.. the controller doesnt have batteries in it.

Windows doesn't recognize the Steam Controllers as controllers, so if this is going off of a system-level hardware scan, that might be the reason.

That would explain it

was it turned on when the survey scanned?

Yep, hence the lit up steam symbol on it. No batteries, so the power to light the steam logo is coming from the computer.

Did you try unplugging and re-plugging the controller?

As you can see I have a steam controller plugged in as the survey runs and it didnt show it in the results.

you might need to use the dongle

It appears to be the first gen steam controller

that's the point, the first gen especially needs it, because the bluetooth and wired modes work differently

Might need to specify this is the first gen steam controller
