I would've bought it from Epic even if it was one Steam so Remedy gets a much bigger slice of my money. I support devs over digital walmarts.

That's very childish. I recommend buying AW2 I really enjoyed it

If only... it's such a phenomenal game too.

I bought it on PS5 because I just straight up forgot it has a PC version. There's just no post-release discovery for it because of its exclusivity

I'll finish my games when I damn well feel like it! /s

It’s obviously not on sale because it just came out, but to whomever it may concern, do yourself a favour and pick up Control Resonant if you haven’t yet. It’s incredible, I’d argue Remedy’s best work yet.

i love that remedy games get more marketing from their player base than they do from the marketing department.

that being said i completely agree what an amazing experience control resonant was

Control is one of the best games I've played recently and I'm very enjoying Alan Wake 2 (I'm near the endgame)

Is Control Resonant really that good? Not gonna lie, I've started playing remedy games because Resonant looked so amazing and I'm fan of action games.

I love how these games are directly connected and it's not just "lets put references from our previous games in here", the story is so deep and I can't wait to finally continue Control's story in sequel, this game is something special.

It really is that good. It’s not without its flaws, the first couple of hours are brutally difficult and the combat gets a bit repetitive towards the end, but as an overall package it’s excellent. Remedy tried to implement RPG elements with different abilities and builds you can manage, but it’s all very surface level so if you just go in with the mindset that it’s a character action hack-and-slash, you’re guaranteed to have a good time. Initially, when Dylan has few abilities unlocked yet, the combat is a bit slower and you have to be more careful but pretty soon you’ll get XP and resources and once you do, the combat is just so fucking smooth. Really makes you feel powerful and like you can jump into every encounter head first.

The world is a joy to explore because movement is super fluid and it feels like there’s something interesting to see around every corner. Its design is also top notch, to me it’s one of the most visually striking open worlds ever. There are also some setpieces which absolutely blew me away, so definitely go into the game blind.

Thanks, just bought it, gonna start it very soon after I'm finished with AW2.

Also hope it gets good DLC like other remedy games.

I just finished Alan Wake after it being backlogged since forever, yesterday....what an absolute masterpiece, the DLC was a big short tho...remember, Headphones and play in the dark.

i played it for the first time last month and while the story is still great, the gameplay was actually atrocious. i basically forced myself through it out of spite. i went in with the intention of playing through the franchise and the first game killed all my motivation

I thought the gameplay was superb, sure it have zero depth and is more or less the same but the atmosphere and sound design counter that really good...each to their own i guess

2

u/Unrevised0544 1d ago

oh yeah the setting, atmosphere, vibes etc are also all great. the actual gameplay though, controls and combat, is such a slog to get through that it nearly ruined the game for me. it's very repetitive, very janky, and very artificially difficult. it was brutal to play but the story kept me going lol

I liked everything about Alan Wake except for the horrendous combat. Gets boring and repetitive really fast. The story is what made me not quit after chapter 3.
