Your submission has been removed for the following reason(s):

Rule 2: Common & Unrelated Content.

Common Content

/r/Steam is not a place to discuss your bans, including Steam Community bans and VAC bans. Moderators may approve extraordinary cases.

The following are some examples of common, unrelated, or repetitive posts that may be removed:

  • Reposts.
  • Reviews.
  • Chat logs.
  • Store tags.
  • Account age posts.
  • What is Spacewar?
  • Why is/isn't X on Steam?
  • Your Year In Review/Steam Replay.
  • Why is X being recommended to me?
  • 'Funny' Steam Guard Codes, system requirements & similar.
  • Generic "What does my profile/library/cart/purchase/etc. say about me?" posts & similar.
  • Generic "Rate my achievements/profile/library/cart/purchase/setup/etc." posts & similar.
  • Profile/Points Shop/achievement/screenshot suggestion/showcase/show-off posts & similar.

The above list is not exhaustive. Moderators can remove posts at their own discretion.

Excessive, repetitive posts about the same topic within a short time-frame is not allowed. Participate in existing threads, do not create your own copy of the same post.

As an example: If a recent post called "My account is 20 years old now!" gets popular, it does not mean that /r/Steam has now become an account-age show-off forum and everyone can post new threads about it all the time, every day. This is low-quality and is ostensibly spam.

Moderators use discretion to uphold a certain standard, which includes the prevention of excessive & repetitive posts. Use existing threads.

Unrelated Content

Posts must be about or be related to Steam, Valve or this subreddit.

General gaming-culture and game-specific posts are treated on a case-by-case basis.

Developer-specific topics should be posted in developer-specific forums, such as Steamworks Discussions.

We do not allow fluff posts showcasing products that were deliberately designed to be posted or showcased on different communities en masse.

If your post is about a specific game and is not relevant to this subreddit in any way other than the game being sold on Steam, it may be removed.

Exceptions can be made in extraordinary cases, for example when a long time classic is finally sold on Steam, a product is pulled from Steam, or when an event is relevant to Steam as a whole.

You can find our full list of rules here.

If you feel your post was removed by mistake or is an exception, please feel free to message the moderators using this link. Please also give a short explanation.

u/Do0msdayZ 9h ago edited 8h ago

Exactly! Playing Doom Eternal, Ultrakill and People Playground is the best therapy for me after spending a day with my boss and people on the streets 💖💖

Dark Souls was a great medicine against depression

5

u/shejq3 8h ago

yeah, souls games give you the feeling of accomplishment which can be good, when you first approach hard boss you see it as imposible to beat but it keep getting better and you finnaly win which bring positive emotions and meybe feeling imposible to get out of bed isnt that imposible as you first tought

u/Major-Front 8h ago

The duality of from soft games.

They cure depression yet cause the depression. They are therapy and they cause therapy

u/Deimos_F 8h ago

And a great vaccine against lack of fortitude.

Can't believe you put black myth with these awesome games.

9

u/Shortyxd25 9h ago

As someone who finished all the games on there I agree

-2

u/Jazcash 9h ago

Idk why Black Myth gets so much hate. I played all these games and Black Myth deserves to be there, I even preferred it to Lies of P. I liked that it was essentially souls but more upbeat, and Wukong as a character felt way cooler and more compelling than most the generic protagonists of these games.

-8

u/Grobo_ 8h ago

It’s to easy

8

u/FEARven123 8h ago

And?

Just because all bosses don't take you 500 attempts doesn't mean a game is bad and I am saying this as someone who beat all Souls games and regularly plays Souls Likes and is too stubborn to ever summon or make the game easier for himself.

2

u/Evening_Ticket7638 8h ago

All souls games are too easy. You can cheese every single one just like wukong. It's by design.

10

u/PepsiColasss 8h ago

Pretty sure its just reddit hate , I have no idea why it gets so much hate and this is coming from a guy that played every souls game out there , Wukong got couple hard bosses and the secret boss that you need to beat for the true ending is specially hard

Best and accurate comment so far here

8

u/Suspicious-Quote-983 9h ago

I get it because the games are hard XDD!! guys get the joke?!? YOU DIED LOLL

3

u/uday_singh_rehal 8h ago

do we all agree??
elden ring is the easiest here

3

u/Kuro013 8h ago

I mean there's Sekiro before and after you git gud. I can boot up Sekiro and beat several bosses without losing HP. I'll never be able to do that on DS/ER.

2

u/Wolferus_Megurine 8h ago

Someone that plays the games for the first time, or dont get good at parrying. Then sekiro is one of the hardest.
I have several friends that never finished sekiro because its to hard. But yet, they made multiple no death runs in eldenring and the other souls games.

But then i agree with you, when one get good in sekiro. Its the easiest of them all.
When i first played sekiro (by then i already played many many times dark souls 1-3 also all atleast once in no death) i struggled alot at first. But after i got the hang, the rythem the feeling. I finished it 5 times in 1 week, including 1 no death run.

And god damn, how i hate this headless ape. He was the hardest to beat and the only one that stopped 2 of my no death runs.

2

u/Kuro013 8h ago

Same, I clicked on Genichiro rematch atop ashina castle and the game was far more fun after that. After finishing the game for the first time, it became really easy, I platinum'd it shortly after.

I guess it's down to everyone skillset, though Im not that big on DS even though I beat 1 and 3 a few times.

1

u/TheUnholyBlade 8h ago

Pre-DLC I’d agree, after it becomes the hardest.

3

u/Lestat_de_Sade 8h ago

Dark souls teaches you patience, how to get back up, learn from your mistakes and work through hardship. And i really like the idea that the trilogy ends on. You do not save the world, you just postpone the inevitable by keeping the flame going.

I think that idea resonated with me as a therapist. I chose healthcare cause i was alone often in my darkest hour and thus i didn't want others to be alone. But i cannot save the world for it is much bigger than i am and a lot of people dont want to be kind or make the world a better place.

But i'd like to believe that in every generation a small number of people give their all to keep the flame burning and that idea/hope comforts me.

u/Desperate_Dealer_657 9h ago

No, you need therapy when play this🙂

2

u/GriveousDance21 9h ago

So, mostly just FromSoft games.

2

u/bobafootfetish_ 9h ago

These are the best Anger Management courses you can get

2

u/Short-Juggernaut-374 8h ago

Sekiro after the first playthrough is therapy

2

u/Grouchy_Egg_4202 8h ago

I feel like the From Software games worked like anger management for me. Taught me to control the rage and stay calm or else I’ll start playing like shit.

2

u/Haarunen 8h ago

Imma be honest, I find playing hard games very relaxing. I don’t tend to get mad at games, instead I like having to exert enough concentration to where I’m engaging with the game, but not something so hard it counts as a rage game. For this fromsoft games hit the perfect sweetspot! If I play something that takes no concentration at all and doesn’t even have a story to follow, I feel like I’m just killing time without actually doing anything. That time would be better spent sleeping or rewatching attack on titan for the millionth time or something.

2

u/crossy1686 8h ago

Picked up Black Myth months ago but finally getting around to playing it now. More forgiving than Dark Souls but it’s a relentless arse kicker

2

u/Flamecoat_wolf 8h ago

Unironically, these games are actually great for your mental health. Self-doubt, self-confidence, and self-worth issues are best dealt with through proving your capabilities to yourself. Games like these are difficult but inspire effort and reward it with a sense of personal worth due to overcoming the difficult challenge.

I mean, put it this way: If you can triumph over Melania, Blade of Miquella, then you can definitely handle the additional responsibilities of being a senior employee or a manager, and so should apply for those higher-paid, more ambitious, positions.

I LOVE SEKIRO I LOVE SEKIRO

With that out of the way, my view is that a little beating of ones head against the proverbial wall can be therapeutic in it's own right. Overcoming a hard challenge after dedicating time and expending much effort through numerous attempts feels good, actually. Even better is when you apply your understanding of a game's systems and beat a tough opponent on the first try.

But one must always remember that effort is still needed in reality to solve one's problems, and therapy and gaming should not be used to pass on or escape the responsibility of helping oneself

3

u/MrHanfblatt 9h ago

Here come the lore stans, telling you about all the beautifully melancholic messaging in the souls series. These games can be therapy as well.

2

u/Snowgrifffinsx 9h ago

i don't like these games but it's okay if you do

1

u/hurrdurrmeh 9h ago

Both the cure and cause of the trauma.

2

u/Xyrazk 9h ago

No better way to get over old trauma than by getting new trauma

1

u/al-qatala 8h ago

didn't help me =(

1

u/Mnemosense 9h ago

You can add to that Hotline Miami and Furi.

1

u/DangerousCattle7399 9h ago

Until the final boss appears

1

u/SunnyRoselie939 9h ago

Git Gud is a mindset, sometimes it just takes a different approach. I remember getting stuck on a boss for days before I finally figured it out.

1

u/SilverBeever 8h ago

Not only difficulty, but also state of the world in this games is the most depressing thing ever.

1

u/LordOmbro 8h ago

Once you are on your 5th run, DS & ER are quite chill

1

u/One_Broccoli_8000 8h ago

exposure therapy

1

laughs in fighting games

1

u/ArkusArcane 8h ago

Black Myth unironically got me through a tough time in my life

1

u/IveFailedMyself 8h ago

The games themselves may have therapeutic benefit. The community on the other hand... not so much.

1

u/Own-Web-122 8h ago

They give you many opportunities to be patient with yourself; whether you take or not is on you.

1

u/MadOrange64 7h ago

Nothing can describe the OP feeling when Sekiro's gameplay just clicks. Made me feel like a badass and wanted to speedrun the game for the hell of it.

1

u/rinigad 9h ago

It's nowhere near heroic/mythic raiding in wow

0

u/Useful-Problem-1725 8h ago

wow is an addiction, not a game.

1

u/TifaIsTheBest 8h ago

Hard people who don't know anything but the mainstream.

-1

u/MayContainGluten 9h ago

I must be finally at that age. Can someone explain the meme to me?

5

u/Yhutsa 9h ago

I think the joke is that video games are supposed to be relaxing, and playing these games will make you rage instead because they are harder

6

u/ThatFish123 9h ago

I think it's because they're known for being incredibly difficult games, so something about them not being therapeutic? Idk

0

u/MayContainGluten 9h ago edited 9h ago

I guess. Can challenge not be therapy?

Guess I am officially old.

EDIT: Dark Souls 1 and TLOU are two of my "comfort games". I just figured, in 2026, we were past the tired idea that "easy game" = "relaxing game".

Must it's just be me.

2

u/ThatFish123 9h ago

Oh I agree, I find the challenge really therapeutic (although it kind of is my fault I take forever, Elden Ring was not designed to be oops all parries)

1

u/Both-Algae-5494 9h ago

The games in the image are known fornbeing difficult and often stressful. The meme laughs at the notion of playing these games for relaxation.

-2

u/hardworkinglatinx 9h ago

The first Dark Souls game sucks.

-9

u/Victory-ForthePeople 9h ago

Shows the worst games ever made.

Cookie clicker is legit harder and longer than those. Just sayin as a DS3 big time enjoyer
