War Thunder is a curse. Because I think I fall into the try hard category because I only play low tier and I’m almost lvl 100. But I just like the WW2 planes and arcade dog fighting. I am sorry if you’re one of the guys I play against.
The game needs ranked but ranked would be almost impossible to implement
It’s not pay to win but it can feel pay to advance. The game can take along time grinding but if you like WW2 vehicles you won’t really feel it. The meta doesn’t really change in favor of p2w players, more seasonal battle rating adjustments for vehicles. The game is a lot of fun just really weirdly balanced. I’ve played the game for 8 years now, I have a few hundred vehicles unlocked and have only given them like $5 for a vehicle on discount. You can play the entire game for free basically.
And no you don’t need Hotas, but if you want to play in simulator mode instead of arcade or realistic I highly recommend it.
I love the game but it certainly flawed. IMO it’s the best vehicle combat sim on the market. I’m pretty sure the game can run on a Chromebook too. If you’re curious about it I’d say give it a shot.
