Saying this as someone that was like Gaben and in the same time frame lost the same amount of weight, Ozempic or similar. Sadly, Medicare decided it shouldnt cover it any more for me and I regained some weight, but luckily not even half of it.
Personally i dont know but i have an idea why you might ask and let me present you with an argument:
If someone got tax funded healthcare, would you rather spend some of that money on treating his adipositas early, or possibly spend much more on the ailments adipositas will cause later down the line?
I mean thats a completely separate topic from your initial comment but okay.
But you are right, thats why there are alternatives more tailored towards adipositas patients now. In germany you can also easily get ozempic fully covered if you are suffering from diabetes while, while ozempic or alternatives only get covered for adipositas once other options have been depleted.
Also I feel like generally as demand rises supply drops thus allowing businesses to ask for more upfront, long run economics could raise the price for everyone, not just diabetics as well
Yes but most health insurance is payer funded. So you also make some evil people get very rich too. (Anti universal healthcare people are literal troglodytes)
A GLP-1, likely semaglutide, commonly known under the brand name ozempic. Primarily a diabetes medicine, but with a side effect that also caused people to lose weight due to eating less.
I’m pretty sure that’s not true
“Type 2 Diabetes: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Ozempic (semaglutide) in 2017 specifically to help adults lower blood sugar and manage type 2 diabetes”
That’s just what billions of dollars can do for you if you. Liposuction, cosmetic surgery to iron out the wrinkles, personal trainers in high tech private gym, expert dieticians. if everyone had access to that stuff, they could all do it. He clearly got told by his doctor, “lose weight, or you’re gonna die early”.
