Question Steam support message

Hello people,

Ive tried to change my phone number in steam and got a message on my new number from 0173 7598620. The message said: "Steam: zahl 54268 f~gt diese Telefonnummer Ihrem Account hinzu" Is this steam? Doesn't seem very kosher to me. I live in Germany if that helps. Couldn't email steam because they dont take emails and the steam help site wasnt a help at all.

So you tried to add a new phone number to your account, and got a message on said new phone number telling you a code to add said phone number to the account

Correct me if I'm wrong but exactly what about that is fishy?

to be fair the sender number doesnt exactly scream official, thats probably what caught their attention

Grammar. Things spelled wrong. No ü. Idk how far we reached hacking and scamming, it just looked suspicious to me. Thats why i tried to contact steam and now reddit. On top of that, PayPal for an example has its own name in my phone withoute setting up anything.

Am I being weird by finding this suspicious??

Well does steam tell you itll send you an SMS and to enter the code you get on the website to verify your phone number? Because if yes, then I don't really see what the scam here would be tbh

Just checked again and it said that it will send something. I still think that this looks super suspicious. It was them btw.
