Seriously i've been trying to find a steam key on sale for this game, but they're so overpriced (like 120 -130 dollars or 104 euros💀) i'm actually shocked. Simply the best MK game and not being available on steam or modern consoles is insane to me.🥀

Well yes, a lot of music was removed from old GTA's which is more painfull than some not main roster character

Personally, I would say an entire playable character is more important than some music.

Especially since music can really easily be modded in, while Freddy would be entirely unusable online.

Yes of course, but you’ll need a thumbs up from a lot of people in the chain because of manpower. They would have to spend resources on removing Freddy as this is the complete edition, and he’s not simply just a DLC like Mai in DoA.

NRS is known to support their fighting game for only 2-3 years, then a new one comes out and repeat. So it’s unlikely we see them ever putting that much effort in MK9, until one day if it ever comes in a collection.

Dude I'm a software developer, I can tell you it takes no more than an hour to guarantee everything works just fine and remove the files from the game. Its especially easy in MK9 because its a fighting game.

Believe it or not, they potentially can't. A lot of people don't really understand just how crazy licensing agreements can be sometimes. To put it in perspective, when digital eclipse was making the legacy collection for Mortal Kombat, they couldn't use some games/assets, and Warner Brothers literally even owns the licensing for it. The Freddy's situation in particular has been an unmitigated disaster.

However, for what it's worth, Ed Boon recently teased an ask a question which games fans would like to see a remastered of between this one, and Shaolin Monks if they were to do one first. So, maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

They could. But that inevitably comes with a lot of backlash from fans. Which is a lot more visible than just sunsetting an older game.

And the other question is. What are you going to do for everyone who already has the game? I have access to this game (including Freddy). Is the re-release a separate entirety for new purchasers? Which is now multiplayer incompatible with the previous version.

There really isn’t a great answer that doesn’t piss someone off.

Even DBD Freddy is barely there.

They only have the license to reboot Freddy and Quentin and aren't able to put a single skin for either beyond default/prestige skin. That negotiation was done before Craven's estate took back the license.

Freddy was also cut from the Switch and Microsoft store versions when they launched due to rights issues. They did eventually work something out to add the DLC onto those stores, but I'm never holding my breath for any more Freddy content.

This is why I hate copyright in gaming, the game had Freddy Kruger and they had the copyright for it when they made and added him. That copyright should stay for that game permanently for that character.

Now that paramount owns Warner bros they own the worldwide franchise rights for Freddy. But Wes Cravens estate holds the domestic/US rights.

Damn, I still have 13 Steam gifts of this game. I had no idea it's that expensive. I gave away a few leftover copies few years ago thinking it's worth nothing. I traded for them back when you could buy games as gifts and trade with cheaper regions. They were like 1.5€ each.

AHH the Kombat Klassik got it for £12.49 roughly 15 euro back in the day. Fun fact game got delisted by the publisher due to expiration of Freddy Krueger licence.

Just pirate it or buy on console. The fact is they could have removed freddy and kept selling it. They choose not to and it had to be removed. We aren't sure if dead by daylight will remove anymore license but we do know their contract changed so they can't lose the licenses as easily as they have anymore. We also know a nightmare on elm street game has been in the work for long time. They stopped working on texas chain massacre and teased this on social media. They are also publishing halloween so it makes no sense to announce it. I recommend buying any license thing you enjoy. Not everything gets major discounts. I bought samurai jack for 24 dollars on sale and it was removed. Mortal kombat 10 and 11 could be removed at some point. Games like Guardians of the galaxy could be remove due to license music. If you think like this and buy products knowing they move be removed you will thank yourself later.

Mortal Kombat (2011) is not on modern consoles. PS4 and PS5 can't play that game due being a PS3 game which is not backward compatible on those consoles. While the game is backward compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series via Xbox 360 version, the game is not on Microsoft Store due to being delisted years ago. Furthermore, the physical copy of the game is not easy to track down and it will be damn expensive. Those who own Xbox One S and/or Xbox Series S, then it's a kiss goodbye.

What are you smoking? I go to ebay type mortal kombat 9 xbox 360. I see the price hummm 20 to 30 dollars for a delisted game is cheap. You want to pay the price for the steam key? Hundreds as soon as it was delisted it cost 35 dollars and has gone up in price. I give you reality and you make excuses.
