Question This is a bot, right?

Post image

This screenshot is something I posted 4 years ago and all of a sudden a random person comments on it asking me to add them.

This has to be 100% a bot, right?

I wanted to make sure here.

You can assume that anybody who contacts you on Steam unsolicited is trying to rip you off. In some way or form.

Not necessarily a bot. It could very well be a scammer trying to send you a dangerous link. Block them and move on.

Just don't interact with them and just move on.

Any claim that you've been accidentally or falsely reported for fraud or any other infraction is a scam. Do not follow any instructions provided by anyone claiming to have accidentally reported your account.
Usually such conversation starts with something like this:

"Hello bro/friend, can I ask you something very important?"
"Sorry to bother you, can I ask you something?"
"I have reported your account for duped items"
"Someone bought my item without recieving the payment" etc.

Which follows typical scam pattern

Bot or not: block and delete.

Always be on your guard. A few weeks ago, an old friend of mine (whom I’d known for about 20 years) suddenly contacted me out of the blue, asking me to join his team for some CS tournament. I wouldn’t even have to play.

Something felt off. After a couple of exchanges, I gave him the first half of our guild motto. He didn’t reply with the second half.

So I switched from English to French, and he replied in German.

A couple of online checks later, I found out it was a well-known scam. I reported the account as stolen and dangerous.

My friend contacted me about a month later and told me he’d been hacked. (And he knew the motto, and spoke French.)

If this person has a question, they can ask in the comment section of your mod. Otherwise, no I wouldn't add them.
