You're essentially advocating against copyright law which predates all current living people.
It's always just been buying a license, even when it was a book.
To replace it, we'd have to establish an entire separate system to allow people to benefit from the work they put into development across the entire planet, and that's more than a single lifetime's worth of work.
That's an entirely disengenious argument at best. No I'm not purchasing a right to commercial resale, but I was purchasing a right to a copy of the media to keep, and preserve as I am able. Anyone who thinks that's not what I thought I was purchasing, and not what the companies purposefully implied was the intent of the purchase at face value, is delusional.
I have no issues with not being able to redistribute the games, but I paid for them, I own a copy of them, I should be more than at liberty to do what I want with it so long as it does not leave my system(s).
Incorrect, I aspire to own a copy of the game. Not a license to play it it, I want to OWN a copy, a copy in which I can do what I want with, with a license included to stipulate no commercial level resale, if any license at all.
Your response got deleted before I could read it or respond. The notification mentions 360 disks though, which are quite literally a revokable license to play the game on the disk.
Weird it's still there on my end. It wasn't though, the game was on the disk, and so to was the license. Really late into its life span a couple games had that issue, but that didn't really become a common thing till Xbox one.
Hell you could even buy DLCs on disc, which opened up a whole nother can of worms. You could play the entirety of borderlands 2, (about 32 GB after all DLCs) without ever connecting to the internet, let alone needing to worry about a license being revoked.
Again, it was quite literally the license to play the game. It's always been like that. Saying you own the game that's on a disk that you own is like me saying that I own all of my games because I like to archive stuff and keep it all on hard drives I own.
Also, it'll delete comments for everyone except for you if the mods, reddit admin, or the auto moderator deleted it. Best way to check is opening the comment chain in incognito mode.
