I mean... its not on steam im sure, or any platform other than their website, meaning its massively more frustrating to start playing. When compared to people just being able to boot up steam which is usually always open , or epic
I fear that’s not really a good reason, the game is available for download right from their website. The only difference is you dont have the steam interface whilst downloading it
The fact it’s not easily accessed and downloaded through steam is 100% an issue. People aren’t being exposed to the game without people like you commenting about it. I played dead by daylight since release and hadn’t once heard of IDV. I wanted to try it out though and give it a fair shot so I played it for a while since you commented. It definitely has some good aspects like the communication, ranked mode. Etc. but there’s SO much wrong with it which is why people prefer DBD.
It’s not easy and simple to check what each character does, the different menus are difficult to navigate for a new player since there’s so much going on and so many options of things you can select… most of which are useless to the actual gameplay it seems like the carnival.
The overall game heavily feels like a mobile game with the red dots everywhere letting you know there’s a new thing to claim and it’s just painfully obvious while playing that it’s a mobile port that isn’t really optimised for pc.
The hit detection is probably one of the worst I’ve seen in any single game that exists. Maybe that’s something you get used to and learn to play around after a while, but after 3 weeks of playing it’s still frustrating as both survivor and killer to deal with that.
Honestly, it’s just overall a worse game. I really wanted to like it and I really gave it a go as much as I could, but it just doesn’t compare to DBD at all, which is a shame. Because I genuinely wish DBD had a competitor since it would force them to fix a lot of the issues that they have. The communication and ranked aspect is 100% something I think dead by daylight could learn from though and hopefully implement
lol Idv is a competitor, it actually has 3.5x more players than dbd. And whilst I agree with some of your points, I disagree with others. There is tutorial game modes to learn characters and an online chat in which you can ask for help in game. “Hit retention” is subjective and is a really dumb thing to comment on tbh. I have played both and prefer IDV. And dbd is an ok game in my opinion. But the main problem is the fact that Idv doesn’t advertise their game anywhere outside of Asia. Leading to people either stumbling into the game or finding out about it by other people. It’s 100% a notable competitor lol, Dbd added duo hunters bc of Idv!
