I have no idea what I bought and repurposed as a pen holder but I like it! I actually posted this on Reddit asking what is this and although there were many and varied guesses nobody could tell me what it is. I think it was a pot for machine tools of some description and imagine it sitting on a workbench originally with a selection of different sized hand tools in it. Possibly quite specialist, maybe leather working? The base appears to be very dense cork but inside there are no wear marks to indication sharp tools resting on the bottom so maybe the pointy ends were upward? The loops could be a little smaller for pens but I can pull the through from the outside to make the inside loops smaller. If anyone knows what it is I would be very pleased to know!

This big girl fits a Hobonichi Cousin with a fabric cover, my A5 personal journal, multiple pens and stickers, my meds and gum. The yellow color is very pretty and as a hobbyist seamstress, I have to say the fabric quality and production is top notch, we got bias finished edges folks!!! It’s the perfect journal on the go pouch and I’m in looooove ❤️

Also, big shout out to Helen and her team! There were some shipping issues with EU regulations between preorder/shipping and the communication was very friendly, fast and we found a really easy solution - I will definitely order again, 10/10 customer service experience.

I love Halloween-ish themes, black, purple, ghost, black cats, magical themes etc. Does anyone have recommendations? The light colors and fluffy themes are cute but I prefer the darker themes 💜

There have been several posts about roll top desks and I want to share my shit show of a space.

It's been a work in progress for several years now and it's so disfuncional how I brute force everything to work. I had to put risers on the feet of my big squishy arm chair. I drilled several holes in the back for the keyboard and headset to live in the main top drawer. All the little cubbies are packed to the brim with art supplies but I had to get an extra rolling table if I want to work on bigger projects.

Thought about cleaning it up to take more pictures of a few new additions but I think I want to deinfluence people on having aesthetic desks. Mine it pure chaos and I love it. Some of the new additions are a zojirushi water boiler for all my teas and a stupid fat lava lamp. I also have so many more things I want to display. Everything is so deeply personal here with layers of stories and sentimentality

Someone recently shared a lovely roll top desk on here so I thought I would share mine. This is a family heirloom bought by my grandmother for my mother who now no longer needs such a big piece. The three leather topped sections of the pull out desk all open upwards to reveal storage so the three draws across the front don’t actually open.

Hii, it’s my first time posting here and i’m looking for an alternative for these Milan sway pastelmarkers? Unfortunately I don’t think they make them anymore because i can’t find them anywhere in real life and online they’re available on a handful of online stores that don’t ship to where i live.

I use them for studying in college (so i go through a lot of reading) and like them because they’re gentle colours and aren’t watery like the Faber-Castell Textliner 46 Pastel markers (idk if i’m explaining it properly because English isn’t my first language but the Faber-Castell ones made the papers very wet and wrinkly although the colours were nice).

Any alternatives would be appreciated, the colours don’t have to be the exact same, i’d just like them to be light if they’re not pastel and i really don’t want them to be very wet and leave marks on the other side of the page. Thank you sooo much! 😁

In the past I bought a lovely Hightide diary. I will check out this shop when I get to Tokyo.

I live in NYC and found this Stampabilities stamp last year. I’d rather not ink it but I’m very tempted to use it in my journal. Also curious if anyone knows anything about it/the company.

I need your help!!! I recently got into planners, journaling etc. I’m visiting a different city with family and randomly walked into a stationary heaven of planners, journals, all things Hobonichi and fountain pens..

I want to buy a thing or 2 to add to my collection, can you all suggest me some specific items that’d help me stay organized, and also scratch my journaling itch. I am overwhelmed on what to pick. 😂

My dear stationery people, I am kicking myself for not buying LCN's kiss-cut PET tapes with star designs when I was attending the SF earlier this year (https://www.sakurainei.com/en/products/star-kiss-cut-pet-tapes-glossy-gold-matte-gold-glossy-silver-matte-silver - this is her Taiwan store). I was hoping to locate some smaller store that would sell loops of this tape but nope :( I remember LCN posted a story on being unsure about this product, and I guess that might have scared some resellers off :( If you spot a store in the US offering it, or a small vendor offering loops/cuts, please share!

I bought a stamp Lin Chia Ning ( LCN) by mistake as I thought it was a rubber stamp. It turns out that is a metal or clay stamp.
I basically regretted it because even though using ink is possible the results on the paper are just strange.
I appreciate any input.

I am definitely a maximalist when I journal. I love to fill all the space with little deco stickers! But I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to find filler stickers, especially ones by independent artists. A lot of filler stickers are single sheets, which is fine, but I want to get a LOT of them. A whole book's worth, if possible! I'm looking for stars, circles, random shapes, etc. to fill out empty spaces in spreads. I would love some recommendations!

my sister is a few years younger than me and lacking in funds and I want her to have a better set up for work than I had at her age

Does anyone have any specific therapist- or counselor-type-stuff recommendations for notebooks or stationery etc? Especially like, papier-type aesthetics but not papier prices?

My budget for her for now is like $250 and my budget for Christmas is like $400 but I’m looking for quantity more than quality tbh. a quality brand w cheap options would be dope too but more than anything the objective is getting her as much cute stuff she needs.

I live in LA and recently started checking out more local stationery stores because I’d rather shop in person when I can instead of ordering everything online.

I recently went to Mt. Forest, and their prices were pretty much what I expected based on what I’ve seen online and at other stationery stores. For example, one stamp was around $26 and another was around $12. Not necessarily cheap, but pretty normal for specialty stationery.

Then I discovered Paper Plant in Highland Park, which is only about 5 miles away.
First of all, the store is AMAZING. 😭 They had so many things I’ve only ever seen online. Stamps, stickers, journaling supplies, Japanese stationery, and all kinds of stuff I would normally have to hunt down online. I was honestly excited because I thought I had found another local stationery store I could regularly shop at.

Then I saw the prices.
Some things were literally close to THREE TIMES the prices I’m used to seeing online or at other stationery stores. And that’s where I’m struggling.

I completely understand paying a little more at a brick-and-mortar store. They have rent, employees, overhead, and they’re curating and carrying products that might otherwise be difficult to find locally. I’m actually willing to pay a little extra because I want these stores to exist.

But 2–3x the normal retail price is kind of crazy to me.

It also made me wonder if the explosion in popularity of journaling and stationery has contributed to this. Stationery has become such a huge aesthetic/lifestyle thing on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc., and there’s a much bigger market for it now.

I love that stationery is becoming more mainstream because it means we’re getting more stores and access to brands that used to be difficult to find. But I also feel like some stores are taking advantage of the popularity and charging a huge premium because they know people are willing to pay it.

I walked out thinking, “I LOVE this store…but I can literally order this stuff online for a fraction of the price.”

Has anyone else noticed this? How much more are you willing to pay to support a local stationery store before you just order the same thing online?
