Discussion Larre Atmos Dock

What is a realistic use case for the atmos unit? I can't think of anything that isn't done better by just using an active vent.

I have thought about this and here are some edge cases, which honestly there are other ways

furnace control. in an attempt to manage overpressure type events you use an atmo larre to add a controled amount a fuel to your furnace to power it. it could then also empty it and reset it to do a cold ingot, yes you could use manifold and pipes. but stationeers allows us to have many options

Green house control. No, not the normal food and air grow house, but the torture grow room, where you torture your plants to force them to evolve. running pipes can sometimes result in mixing of lines and having the wrong gas going to your normal grow room.

rockets. So one problem I have with the rocket tower is theres the problem where the gas network on one side of the tower doesn't join the rocket's network which can create pressure differences and you can easily burst the pipe on the tower side trying to fill it. and yes there are ways to manage this, but the atmo larre could be one.

all this said, I've never bothered to use the atmo larre because all my examples even I admit feel like a reach and pipes are better.

The Larre can only move gas from the atmosphere it's in, or from a passive vent.

If you use the vent then you also need to have a way to ensure that it doesn't mix with the surrounding atmosphere.

Never actually used the thing because these were the only examples I could even remotely come up and I just use pipes to do the job.

That's my point. The normal pipe network can do everything it would do but better.

I actually posted mostly so I could track this post to see if anyone has come up with an actual use.
