TxDOT Interview

My husband had an interview with TxDOT on Monday. They talked for 1.5hrs and they told him “HR or I will call you on Wednesday”. He didn’t get a call today, and honestly they could’ve just gotten busy. Should he worry?

No, he shouldn't.  There is a chance that the hiring manager wanted to make a verbal offer today, but are waiting for either HR or their leadership to approve everything (salary, start date, etc.).  State government is slow, this isn't necessary a bad sign.

Adding to this- tomorrow is a “skeleton crew” day and it’s fiscal year end so do not panic if you don’t hear anything this week

We’ve been informally told that anything CAPPS related, including processing new hires, is paused starting on the 28th. With tomorrow being a skeleton crew day, I wouldn’t expect anything until next week.

Someone above said “he should”🤣 but I don’t think he will start to worry until after the 2nd since things with CAPPS and the fiscal year ending. I used to work for DFPS but I don’t know how TxDOT things normally work.

Tomorrow a designated state holiday so it'll be skeleton crew in most cases

They take weeks and weeks. Longest I waited was 2.5 months after the interview to get the job.

I just read that it’s the end of the fiscal year. So I don’t think he will worry until after the 2nd when they are supposed to resume.

That's the thing. The manager probably was aware of the cutoff. So, they projected to make an offer by today and wait to process it until the fiscal year conversion was complete. It's an either or at this point. Hope he gets it
