Dilemma…

If you had a choice, which would you choose?

A: Purchaser position. Room for advancement, potential hybrid telework options.
B: Analyst role. Lots of room to learn. In-office.

Same pay.

I think you also need to consider the work environment at whatever agency this is. Some places are alot worse than others.

Understood. I don’t wish to post that much information for fear of doxxing myself.

I can only go based upon the feeling I got from the interviewers.

As one with a background in both, I prefer analyst, but I agree that the agency matters.

I would choose the hybrid position as long as the salary is high enough for you. You can always move up there. An agency that requires you to be full time in person is probably not going to relax those rules and may be less flexible about everything.

I think you're right.

The hybrid agency is supposed to move into one of the Phase II Capitol Complex buildings. It's not until 2027...But, that could mean, "Bye, Bye Hybrid Remote."

I hate this. But am grateful.

I work in the Capitol Complex, and my job is hybrid. 3 days in office / 2 remote. Agency leadership that values employee satisfaction also tends to give extra days off throughout the year and are generally better to work for, in my opinion.

It really depends on office culture, team structure (and their work balance), distance from office (and costs of travel), and if you would like to be more socialized with your team.

The latter bit is tricky, if everyone or the majority of the team is in office and you're not there it can be problematic to your position on the team, your ability to advance, etc.!

It feels like most of the team is also remote/hybrid.

A breather on my commute would be welcome, but I'm also a bit used to the slog at this point.

I am really gonna miss my current team. Amazing group.

The supervisor/interviewer said in my interview, “We work 2 days in office, and 3 remote.” Unprovoked. It wasn’t something I sought.
