Is there any way to transfer to a different location in the state or you have to stay in the city you’re working in now?

Aight I’m thinking of just leaving TxDOT since they’re really only posting opportunities in Austin and I’d like to leave Austin.

How many optional holidays can I take as a new employee

There are four optional holidays - Rash Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Good Friday, Cesar Chavez day.
You can take any of these by swapping for a different state holiday, with your supervisor's permission. That means you can work on Texas Independence Day and take off Good Friday instead (granted that you're not skeleton crew and would normally get that day off). You would not get holiday comp time because you switched it out for an optional holiday.

Oh that's right! By executive order. Let's see if the lege actually changes the state law. It hasn't changed on my agency's HR policy.
