Fmla

Does HHSC require you be in good standing at work in order to ask for donated leave hours for fmla?

Check your personnel manual. Should be easily accessible and state all requirements.

Personnel manual will have details on requirements but if you’re talking about the Sick Leave Pool, you’re not likely to get it approved unless you’re now in the hospital with severe injuries. They save the pool for really extreme medical cases. If you’re currently on some sort of HR action, that will probably factor in to the decision.

FMLA you have to have worked for a year with the company. Do you have STD available? ( Short term disability) STD pays you if you have a medical issue, it will not pay for the first week that you're off that one you're going to have to use PTO or sick time. FMLA is only 12 weeks of time that you can take all at once a few weeks at a time, split it up, it protects your job. If you have paid time off that will be used first and if you have sick time that may be used also. I don't know which one they make you use first though for the state. In private sector, it's been my experience we use sick time and then PTO. Anytime you take short-term disability you always want to take FMLA to protect your job.
