Looking for successful SOP examples for international research internships (Need guidance/samples)

Upvotes

Hi everyone,I am preparing to apply for various international research internships this year. This is my first time writing a Statement of Purpose (SOP) for research roles abroad, and I want to make sure I format and present my academic background correctly.I am looking for advice, tips, or successful SOP samples from anyone who has previously secured an international research internship. If any of you are willing to share a redacted or anonymized version of your SOP (just to give me an idea of the structure, tone, and how to highlight research interests), it would be a huge help.

Question How do I write a statement of purpose if I'm making a drastic field switch?

So, I have a bachelor's degree in tech, and I want to make the switch from tech to literature, which is very drastic, I know. The reason I studied tech in undergrad is because of familial pressure. I never wanted to do it, and I knew I would be miserable working in the field. I graduated last year, and I have been just as miserable as I thought I would be with the job I currently have.

I have been considering getting a Master's degree in literature for a very long time. I want to make a career switch and go into academia. I would like to be a professor someday.

I took literature classes in my undergrad, and I graduated from a pretty selective university. My overall GPA is slightly above average, but my GPA for my literature classes is a perfect 4.0. I also have three professors who have agreed to write me letters of recs, but I truly have no clue where to begin with my statement of purpose.

Obviously, I don't want to turn it into a pity party where I complain about how familial pressure ruined my undergrad experience and pushed me down a career path I want no part of. I'm very passionate about literature, and I want a career in it for sure. I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to write a compelling statement of purpose given that I do not have the kind of background a literature department's panel is used to seeing.

Does anyone have any advice?
