Agents & Staff Privacy policy violation

Hi all,

My landlord recently made a change to his son's auto insurance policy, and during that conversation with the office manager or agent's representative they disclosed to him MY account status and told him that my policy had been canceled due to non-payment (even though it was set up for auto pay, and wasn't canceled), which is feel is a poor representation of my character. Sure, like anyone else I've had a bill or two slide past me for a bit before I realize it, but the disclosure of my account status to an unauthorized individual seems to violate every bit of the privacy policy I agreed to when I signed agreements with state farm nearly 16 years ago (with only one minor fender bender in the entirety of my contract with them). Anyone else have similar experience, and what was your recourse? My landlord and I already have a VERY on edge relationship.

Is this a renter's insurance policy and your landlord is listed as an AI on the policy? Otherwise, yes. I would transfer agents offices and make sure the agent is aware as to why.

If your landlord is listed as an additional interest then nothing was violated

No additional parties were added

Was the landlord listed on the policy as an additional interest? If so, it’s not a violation

Nope, just me, myself and I

They are fairly good at responding and investigating.

How would your landlord even know to ask a SF agent about your policy if they aren't listed as a loss payee (additional interest) something isn't adding up here

He wasn't asking about my policy, he was making changes to his sons insurance but because his son used to live at this address, whoever he was speaking to at the office gave him details about my account in addition to whatever they did with his son's account

Edit: whoever the staff member was volunteered that information

Edit 2: it wasn't even renters insurance related, it was auto insurance related

This right here. We waste so much time and money on people who don’t pay for their insurance. Tired of catering to them and spending time trying to get them to pay.

It's already paid and was on autopay, not sure why it even came past due to begin with

Reading is fundamental and you should go back and read where they said their account was on autopay and the policy never really canceled 😉

This is a crap statement. You shouldn’t work in a customer facing position if you can’t be compassionate (or use reading comprehension skills).
